Hi all.

I submitted my petition to remove conditions on the 25th of January 2016 (fee withdrawn from my bank on the 28th -- No NOA received yet).

During my AOS, I did not know that I could petition in my married name. I assumed that I had to becone a US citizen to change my name. Now I know that I can use my married name because of my marriage cert. without any need for a court order and that I don't need to be a US citizen. I have also read of people assuming their spouses last name on their I-751 without any issues when their AOS was done in their maiden name.

The problem is that I have already submitted my application for ROC and I did not use my spouse's last name, but I want to change to my spouse's last name. Can I amend the I-751 by phone? By mail with a cover letter explaining? Or would I need to schedule an INFOPASS?

I'm kicking myself for missing this opportuntity. I don't want to wait to naturalize if I can amend without too much hassle. The social security administration will not update a SSC to a married name if the non-citizen's visa is not in that name and my state requires an updated SSC to update the drivers license to the married name. It all starts with the green card, it seems!

Thanks in advance for any help and guidance.
