G-325A Married name question

Hi all,

I just have a quick question regarding my spouse's (beneficiary) last name. She's filling out the G-325A and is using the married last name (ie my last name) for family name for all immigration documents.

However, our marriage certificate has her last name as her maiden name. Will that be an issue going forward? She's putting her maiden name where it shows "All other names used (include names by previous marriages)."

Marriage certificates will not always show the new name even if it is going to be used. In Colorado, at least Arapahoe County my marriage certificate is my maiden name. To change my name I had to go to social security office to change it that way. But if your wife is the beneficiary it will depend on her country I believe. She may have to register the marriage and then proceed with name change.

Not a problem. I would think all marriage certs will show the woman's maiden name, as that was her name when she got married?! Our marriage cert shows my maiden name, all my documents, forms etc are in my new name (took my hubby's name after marriage). Never had any issues and we're pretty much visa in hand now. On all the forms, she just has to make sure to fill in her maiden name where it asks for maiden name or any other names she has been known by.

Most marriage certificates have a wife's name as the maiden name. That is who she was when she entered into the marriage. My marriage certificate from BC, Canada is also in maiden name.
