Administrative Processing after k1 visa approval in Lagos

Hello All,

I have to start off by saying that Visa Journey has been a source of much needed support for me since I started the K1 process. I have been reading posts unofficially but I have finally registered today. A little history of my K1 journey (and I promise I will fill in my timeline). I filed for my fiancé in March, 2015, received NOA2 in October. My fiancé interviewed on January 7th, 2016, was approved and asked to pick up visa in 10 business days. Our CEAC status has been on ready since January 9th, 2016 without updates. On Tuesday January 26th, he went to the DHL collection center and was told that his passport was not there.

I emailed LagosIV and the response I got was "His application is still processing; sometimes some applications take longer than anticipated", then this morning I got another response that said:

Thank you for your inquiry.

We always recommend that all applicants wait until they have their visas in hand before finalizing travel plans. In your case, the visa officer determined after additional review that further administrative processing is necessary before adjudication can be completed. Our office will contact you when the administrative processing is complete. We cannot state for certain how long this process will take, but we routinely ask applicants with pending administrative processing to wait a minimum of 90 days before contacting us for an update.

So now I'm confused, I have no idea why we could possibly be in administrative processing. If anyone has experienced this, please let me know. I'm extremely stressed out with this whole process at this time.

I suggest you contact your Senator and or Congressman and have them inquire. Something after the interview made them do more checking.

All you can do now is just wait. Was their any specific line of questions that was an issue. Are there children involved and ex (On his side) many times this will get you in prolong AP.

Thanks dwheels76. Yes he has an 8yr old who was listed when I filed. Right before he submitted his medicals, they said " there was supposed to be two of you".He told them that the child would not accompany him now and they never asked any other questions about his child. There were no issues with any questions during the interview. He said they asked very few questions and it went by fast; and was handed the white sheet with the DHL address circled.

I noticed that on the CEAC website, his child has an updated status date of today. I've been very sad all day. Thanks for the encouragement.

It happens and they just may need a last minute security or background check. I would not worry just yet.

Consulate Received : July 30,2014 Transfer to right embassy complete.

Interview Result : AP , requesting another PC (not expired) and certified divorce decree (was submitted)Stokes interview via phone for petitioner 4 hrs after interview.

Oct 23 email notification visa approved.
Visa Received : Nov. 3 , 2014 VISA IN HAND.

UPDATE: Aug 24, 2015, EAD card being produced/ordered. ( 102 days from AOS receipt day and 55 days from RFE response received.) Thank you Jesus !

Sept. 21 Interview, 2 hour interview, we were separated and asked about 50 questions each for an hour each. IO was firm but professional, some smiles.
Several service requests made, contacted Senator and Ombudsman. Background checks still pending.
July 21, 2017 HOME VISIT.  Went well. Topic thread in AOS forum.
Waiting to skip ROC and get 10 yr GC due to over 2 year while pending AOS
AOS APPROVED Oct. 4, 2017 * Green card in hand Oct 13, 2017 !!!!!

First K1 denied after 16 month of AP. Refiled. We are a couple since 2009. Not a sprint but a matter of endurance.

We are in the same situation as you...at least similar but not exactly. My fiancee went for interview on Dec 17th and a single document was requested. It was supplied the next day, the 18th. We've been in administrative processing since then...they indicated on the 29th that we would have our visa in about 15 days or thereabout (excluding U.S and Nigerian holidays), but has been more than 25 days since the 29th, but no visa.

Her passport has not yet been requested also; they have not asked for it yet. Frustrated but no choice but to wait!

You just have to wait, there is not much you can do about it...if you have specific questions, you can always ask by email at the LagosIV@state.gov email address.

Yes, I heard from them. I wrote them again asking about the status of our case and they informed me that they have been waiting for us to submit passport. We've submitted passport this week and hope that they will be done in 10 business days like they informed us.

Congratulations!

How long did it take exactly for you to get the visa from the date they informed you that it was approved?

Congratulations! That's good news.

The CEAC website showed "Issued" on a Thursday, the next day(Friday) he got an email that his passport was picked up from the embassy. He called on Monday and they said it was available for pick up but he had to wait till it was sent to the pick up center in Victoria Island. He picked it up on Wednesday Morning (So roughly 3 business days).
