O'Hare airport to Dallas Airport: Where will immigration take place!

Hi Everyone!

We've booked a flight for my wife! she will be travelling from Istanbul to Dallas with a stopover at O'Hare Chicago airport!

This is her first time travelling to USA so she has the sealed document with her!

She will arrive at Terminal 5 around 5:50 pm and her next flight for Dallas will leave at 7:41 pm. which only leaves her 1 and half hour!

Will she get her immigrations procedure at Chicago ? or will they let her go to Dallas and get her document unsealed there?

So from what I read She will have to:

Get her bags/luggage and go through customs (does this cover "immigration procedures"?????)

Go by tram to terminal 1

Recheck her bags

Get on the gate in time for boarding.

Do you guys have any tips on how to manage this, or could tell me if she even stand a chance to reach the flight? ;)

Thanks a bunch in advance!

She will POE in Chicago. If she misses the connection they should book her on the next flight as long as she booked it all on one ticket.

She will POE in Chicago. She will have to go through immigration there. How long that takes depends on how many incoming flights arrive at the same time. She will most likely miss her connection to Dallas as Chicago International Terminal is in a different area of the airport. She will then have to take the Tram to her next terminal, recheck her bags, go through another checkpoint screening, and then go to her gate.

assume the worst case scenario -

she won't have time to make the flight connection to Dallas there at Chicago.

When she gets out of the immigration control point with her luggage in a trolley,

go straight to the airline's counter, and the clerk there will get her a boarding pass for the next flight out.

if'n she's lucky, it's a flight for later that evening.

if she's not lucky, she'll have to stay in chicago overnight. if this is the case, remind her to ask for a free hotel room with hotel van pickup.

My fiancé (now husband) and I came through O'Hare at POE. We arrived mid afternoon in July. According to what I had read it was supposed to take a few hours so we had booked a 4 hour layover because we were afraid we would miss our connecting flight. It took us 15 minutes to go through immigration. We went through the visitors line since he couldn't go through the US Citizens line.
