Hello,

I may be over thinking this...

I have received two SP30's (UK traffic violations for speeding) One was dealt with via fixed penalty, the second referred to court, for which I was guilty.

These were 5 years ago and have now been removed from my DVLA record.

Specifically this relates to the part of the DS 160 form, and the best practice for how to complete this.

On the DS 160 form there is a question relating to convictions, "Have you ever been arrested or convicted of any offense or crime?"

Now, I would be inclined to select yes for this, and indicate that I have traffic violations for excess speed. Which I assume my police certificate will also indicate, I also have the court document from the time to support this.

My questions are - Am I'm correct to declare this? - I believe so, but wish confirmation.

Will it have any bearing on the application itself? - I presume not, since it's misdemeanor traffic violations by the US interpretation? and doesn't appear to be something that can affect travel, see ESTA below.

I should also mention I have an ESTA, which has the questions,

"Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority?" and " Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using or distributing illegal drugs?"

Of which the SP30's would not be declarable under.

Traffic violations are not felonies or criminal convictions. Answer is None.
