i suggest you two file , married filing jointly,

filing a paper return this year.

Start with irs.gov - look at the forms,

studying between 1040 and 1040EZ

and of course the schedule C .

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

No tax return for 2015 is my answer.

If you never worked in the US in 2015 then you have no obligation to file a tax return.

If your wife earned ZERO income in any country in 2015, then she has no obligation to file either. She would have had to earn more than $4000 (US or abroad) before she reached the filing threshold.

I am worried that if i wanted to get passport in 3 years, disnt uscis asked for tax return of three years. In this case i shall file zero income tax return this year.

Thanks

The application asks of you:

Do you owe any overdue Federal, State, or local taxes?

For 2015 at least your answer is "no". Make sure you pay any future taxes.

If you are applying based on marriage, then they want to see documents referring to you and your spouse as proof you are still married. Tax returns are but one kind of proof. If you only have two returns to send, you could add a signed statement saying

My spouse and I did not file a tax return for 2015 because

a) I earned ZERO income in the US and had no requirement to file.

b) my wife earned ZERO income in any country in 2015, and had no obligation to file.

By the time you apply, you could feasibly send 2016, 2017, 2018 if you are that worried that naturalization hinges on whether you filed a tax return. USCIS can't make you file if IRS says you do not file.
