So, I'm still scratching my head on the status of my fiancé's visa status. He attended his interview at the consulate in Juarez back in Oct. They gave him the dreaded blue sheet saying they wanted to interview the petitioner. (me) So we re-scheduled the interview for the beginning of January. We attended it, and it was sort of a long ordeal. Anyway, at the end of the interview, I was told by the officer that they had all the information they were wanting to collect for and he thanked me for coming down. He said that it was such a unique case that it would take further processing. He said that generally it would be 2 or three weeks, but because of it being the first of the year, it would take anywhere from 6 - 8 weeks.

I decided I couldn't afford to wait around in Juarez for a month or two, (I have a business to run) so we both returned home. I arrived home on Monday night, and on Tuesday morning I received a phone call from the consulate. I could have sworn that I heard that the visa application was accepted, but they needed my fiancé's passport and extra passport photo. At least I could have sworn that was what was said.... when you get that phone call, it's sort of hard to concentrate. Anyway, I needed clarification as to where and how to send the passport. I had a devil of a time contacting anyone at the consulate, but when my fiancé called, he got right through. Now it was his understanding that the visa wasn't approved yet, but they needed the passport and photo to finish processing.

Now I have received the e-mail that the package was sent DHL to the location we had selected (which is Juarez of course, and neither of us are there now) but nowhere in the language does it actually say "congratulations you have your visa" or "we regret to inform you". Whether we actually have the visa or not will make some difference on our travel plans. So is there anyway of determining the status of the package?

I looked up on the US department of state website, Visa Status and it says in big blue letters at the top "ISSUED" but does that mean the visa was issued, or the denial was issued? under notes it still says it's in process. (which is goofy, because it's been sent to the DHL location) When I go to the consulate website it still says "send documents" But then if I click under "applicant details" and go to the next window, under "request type" it says "Follow Up Documents Request" then over where it says "Status" under that it says "approved" Does that mean they've approved the documents we sent, or does that mean the Visa was approved.

I'm so confused by this whole thing....

Leave it up to the government to make something that could be simple, complex.

Any thoughts? Or will we just have to travel back to Juarez and open up our special package to see if the visa was approved or not.

Thanks for your time.
