Starting my journey , confused, overwhelemed like most

Hello!

Ive decided to sign up to see if i can start reading/interacting with folks who are going through the same processes as me.

I mostly want to interact with people who can speak to me in plain english, im finding the lawyers and the jargon of the entire process to quite daunting.
Im having a hard time following along, and I feel confused, and overwhelmed. And I feel my lawyer is almost unsure at sometimes.

my husband and I got married in may 2016, I am canadian hes american military. We did not start any process prior to getting married. I came to the states to start my immigration process. I believe we are doing an adjustment of status. I do not want to give up my canadian rights, but i also want to be able to stay in america with my family.

We have filed our i 148 so far and are waiting back to hear on that it cost around 1200$?

What Canadian rights are you afraid of losing? The hardest one for me to lose was the socialized medicine. Once one becomes a resident of the U.S., the rights to health care cease.

Further, What is the form I148? Do you mean the I485?

uh, i just dont wanna give up being a canadian citizen, im just a proud canadian i guess...

yes the i 485 sorry my brain is just mush lately we are currently waiting on approval for this form, its been sent in already

thank you for the link thats exactly what i am going through i messed up and wrote a wrongful form number . i have submitted my i485 already and waiting for approval

and yes may 2015 my apologies i have may 2016 on my mind because thats when we are expecting our first child

Ah, I got you! I am finished my journey, I am an American citizen and I never once had to 'give up being Canadian'. I traveled recently with both passports, entering Canada as a Canadian citizen and coming back to the US as an American citizen.

Thanks, and no worries. I am proudly Canadian too. I wouldn't have chased US citizenship if I had to give up my red and white

Did you get married in the US and stay to adjust?

Or did you get married, go back to Canada, enter as a tourist, and then adjust?

When you file you must send the correct fee with the application..
