Is the petitioner have to be the sponsor of the intent immigrant? My mother is the petitioner of my brother but she doesn't have no income. Me and my husband want to be the sponsors of my brother. Do we need to fill out two forms I-864? Or can I exclude the petitioner (my mother) on this form?

hi

no, the petitioner is always the primary sponsor, she must fill out an i864, even if she makes $0 income and attach a letter explaining why she doesn't have to file taxes

you can be her joint sponsor and your husband your household member

you file an i864 as her joint sponsor and your husband fills out the i864A as your household member

Thank you so much for the very helpful information! We need two fill out two I-864 forms, one for my mother and one me right?

What option should she select on Part-1 ?

Thanks for your time !

Your mother, the petitioner, would choose "1.a. I am the petitioner".

You, the joint sponsor, would choose "1.d. I am the only joint sponsor".

Hi! The NVC said that my application (Form 1-864) is incomplete in part 6. They need the sponsor income and employment information in part 6 but my mother never ever work before so there is no employed information. Me and my husband will be the sponsors. What do I write there? thanks!!!
