Hello everybody! My fiancee and I have been lurking on here and you all have been incredibly helpful! We have begun filling out our i-129 petition/package and things are going great but we still have a few questions.

To give you a bit of background, my fiancee is from Canada and she will be emigrating to Seattle, WA, U.S.A.. I am currently in my last semester of university and she just graduated in the Fall.

My questions will be organized to their corresponding forms.

I-129 questions:

  • In part 2 of question 29, it asks for the address that my fiancee intends to live at once she moves to Seattle. Once she moves to my current address are we allowed to move to another one in the same state?
  • On question 2.a. it says "In Care of Name." What does this mean?

g-325a questions:

  • For the question, "applicants last address outside of the United States of more than 1 year," we are confused. Since my fiancee has always lived outside of the United States, does she put her current address along with the date of when she sends the package (there is no box that says "to present time)? Do I need to write anything (N/A, etc) considering I have only lived in the U.S.?
  • When the document asks for my city and country of birth, do I need to give the state at all? For example, I was born in Bellevue, U.S.A., but there are many Bellevues in the U.S..

i-134 question:

We aren't at this part yet, but we want to make sure that if/when our petition is approved we can move on to the next steps of the visa. As I mentioned earlier I do not have a job yet, but after I graduate I plan to find one. The problem is we would like to apply for our visa before I graduate so we can hopefully get married early next year.

  • Can a parent be used as sponsor in place of myself?
  • If a parent is used as a sponsor and we eventually want to move would this be possible? Or does my fiancee have to live with the sponsor.
  • What is the difference between a sponsor and a co-sponsor?
  • My parents file taxes separately. If my dad is not listed as a dependent on my mother's tax return would our household only consist of three officially (my mom, my fiancee, and me while I'm still employed).
  • Can two parents be listed as sponsors? What if they are not married but have been living together for a very long time?

Thanks so much for answering any/all questions, we deeply appreciate it! Once we are approved my finacee and I will post our success story and help others!

Let us know if you have any questions.

I-129 questions:

  • In part 2 of question 29, it asks for the address that my fiancee intends to live at once she moves to Seattle. Once she moves to my current address are we allowed to move to another one in the same state? Question 29 asks for her address abroad though, you must've meant question #28? Yes, you are allowed to move.
  • On question 2.a. it says "In Care of Name." What does this mean? It means sending mail to the intended recipient through someone else. For example, mail recipient doesn't have a permanent address so you send mail "in care of" her parents instead so they can hand it to her.

g-325a questions:

  • For the question, "applicants last address outside of the United States of more than 1 year," we are confused. Since my fiancee has always lived outside of the United States, does she put her current address along with the date of when she sends the package (there is no box that says "to present time)? Do I need to write anything (N/A, etc) considering I have only lived in the U.S.? Yes, she puts her current address. Just put 01/2016. The "present time" appears on the box above anyway where she is asked her residence in the last 5 years.
  • When the document asks for my city and country of birth, do I need to give the state at all? For example, I was born in Bellevue, U.S.A., but there are many Bellevues in the U.S.. No need to mention the state. You will answer that on the residence boxes below anyway.

  • Can a parent be used as sponsor in place of myself? Yes. However it seems Canada can be picky about it. Please read this (specially post #2)

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/572373-co-sponsor-i-134-i-864-canadian-consulate/

  • If a parent is used as a sponsor and we eventually want to move would this be possible? Or does my fiancee have to live with the sponsor. You can move.
  • What is the difference between a sponsor and a co-sponsor? difference being "co" means there is two of you sponsoring. In K1 its always co-sponsoring because the petitioner still needs to fill out an I-134 regardless if he/she is unemployed.
  • My parents file taxes separately. If my dad is not listed as a dependent on my mother's tax return would our household only consist of three officially (my mom, my fiancee, and me while I'm still employed). Check the I-864 sample form part 5: http://www.visajourney.com/examples/INS-Form-I-864.pdf

If the sponsor is married, they have to count the spouse as 1.

  • Can two parents be listed as sponsors? What if they are not married but have been living together for a very long time? You can only have one co-sponsor for K1

Im not sure on the first question but in care of is just the name of the person I believe. Who it is addressed to.

My fiance didn't put anything and I wouldnt put n/a or none unless told to do so. Just follow direction. Just put city and country.
