NOA returned due to post office issues

Hi,

filed the I-130 form in 12/9/2015, received an email confirming the receipt and that NOA was mailed to my address, never received it, i called and was told that the form got returned and i should file a request online. I called the post office and they said they never returned my mail. what's exactly is the NOA and what to do if i don't receive the mail again, can i call to get the case number by phone? Please Helpppppppppp

On January 5, 2016, the Post Office returned your document to us. We will hold your document for 180 days or until July 3, 2016. Please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request that we resend the document to you. If you do not submit an online request by July 3, 2016, we will destroy your document and you will need to file a new Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, with fee. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

I had a similar issue with my daughters SSN card. Make sure that the post office knows that you live at that address. Register yourself at that address through usps.

No you don;t need it. You the petitioner can call USCIS tomorrow and after giving them the information they need they will give you your receipt#.

Be sure to then go to uscis.gov and register so you get text and email going forward.

No not usps creating an account on uscis. here is the link. Once you have the receipt # you can sign up.

i called and got the receipt number starting with WAC. i register online for email/text notification. is that all or should i receive sth else?

Did you fill out the e-request form?

You don't really need the NOA for anything BUT I would be a little wary since that notice said:

If you do not submit an online request by July 3, 2016, we will destroy your document and you will need to file a new Form I-130, Immigrant Petition for Relative, Fiance(E), or Orphan, with fee.

I'd suggest filling out the e-request to cover all your bases.

and choose the option:

Did not receive notice by mail

This also ensures that they have your correct address for future mailings.
