Hello,

My mother-in-law have bio-metrics and interview coming up in April for her B2 tourist visa in Chennai, India. I'm getting all the paper works ready. I couldn't find any information about this, but does she need to get police clearance before the interview to let the consulate know she have no criminal records? If yes, how many years does she need to go back?

What other documents should I get ready? She have some photos of her and me, her sponsor. Should I do an invitation letter? Any other documents?

Thanks,

Tony

Your MIL will have to prove to the satisfaction of the US consular official at the interviewing US embassy/consulate, that she has significant ties to India such that she will return to India after her US visit is completed. Such ties could include, property, house ownership, current stable employment, etc. Each visitor visa applicant is presumed to have immigration intent, and must prove that they are not trying to immigrate to the US. A letter from a doctor, any documents from you, or any other invitation-type letter would likely have no positive effect on the visitor visa approval.

Good luck.

Does she have a criminal past?

Don't forget to tell her to make sure she tells them the reason she wants to go - childcare.

I didn't see childcare mentioned anywhere on this thread

It seems to be very, very common for Indian parents or in-laws to visit the US when a grand-child is about to be born. US consular officers at Indian posts, especially in southern india, are likely aware of this, and obviously have no qualms about issuing B2s.

We are having a baby in 8 months, and I would like to bring my wife's mother to U.S to care for the baby. How would I do that?

This thread may breach the TOS.

I would be more certain if I had read it.

no such thing as sponsorship for a visitor visa and I have no idea why people think there is such a thing. She much apply and be approved on her own merits, and her merits alone.

and i see you are still trying to scam her way into the US so she can take care of your baby...as evident in your other threads. TOS violation yet again

I think the sponsorship issue is because work visa's do need sponsorship, well the vast majority do.

If the purpose of the visa is truly for the mother in law to take care of the grand baby, she should be telling the truth during the interview IMHO. If the above thread replies are right, the U.S. consulate is aware that the mother in law is going to U.S. to take care of the baby.

To the other posts that are accusing the thread starter of scamming, unfortunately I'm sure about at least 80% of the people immigrate to the US via some kind of scam. I've noticed some past threads from various users asking these kind of questions. If you look here, you can see may many much older men with young women, we could see this as scamming also. On some of the thread replies, I noticed that their spouse are also much older. I'm also sure other people have brought their relatives to the US on a tourist visa to care for their grandchild.

Call me old fashioned, but taking care of your grand child shouldn't be considered as work. Thankfully, I'm here on work visa through my company, Qatar Airways.

Good luck to all!
