Lost British passport with US visa!!!

Hello, new here.

Cannot seem to find an appropriate forum for this.

I am a British citizen and a US permanent resident and on January 21 (yesterday) I lost my British passport which has my US immigrant visa inside (however I do have a green card)

I took my passport to the bank as proof of ID, I also went to the doctor, used the bus and went somewhere else on the same day.

Today I went back to all these places and called the lost and found for the bus and there is no sign of it anywhere.

Is it true that I have to go back to London to get another US visa?

Can I go to an embassy in Canada seeing as they are the closest or do I have to go back to London?

Can I just get a new British Passport without a visa or must I have a visa inside? (considering I have a green card)

Why do you want a new visa? You have your green card. The visa in you passport was expired anyway

If you have the physical GC, you no longer need the visa. Make sure you have a police report for the lost passport, then apply for a new one.

You can't travel internationally without a valid passport.

The Visa was to just allow you to enter the US. You need to immediately report your passport as lost and get a new one at your embassy in US.
