I have been applying jobs online everyday, its been my day job for sometime now. Haha.

My question is, is it effective to apply online or should i do walk ins? I want to start working :(

Based on my experience, online applications took maybe 3-5 months for a response. Walking-in will get you a faster result. Oftentimes, if the interviewer is free, they do the interview immediately. (Granted they accept walk-ins of course). Good luck with your job hunting!

Omg! 5 months. Hahaha! I am gonna need to do some walk ins! :) thanks! :)

I did the same thing, I spent days and days applying for jobs online, I landed few interviews, but didn't get any response. Then a month ago I started sending follow up emails to my interviewers, I figured at this point I have nothing to lose. Then one of them actually responded telling me that the position is still open and that I can come next day for a trial. That was 2 months after the interview. They liked me, and I'm working two weeks now as a project assistant. Try to tailor your resume to fit the job you are applying to, because most of them have softwares that reject resumes that have not enough matching words. follow up with every interview (phone, as well as face to face), send them a thank you email. Good luck!

I'm a USCIS. Sometimes online job apps won't even get you a response. There was a job I applied for back in May of last year that I just got the "Sorry, we filled this position" a couple of days ago.

With that said, depending on the type of job, they may tell you that you can only apply online, if you are curious about the application, you can always call and inquire.

It all depends on what kind of job you're looking for. In my little experience with job hunting it seems easier to get an interview with companies that have a website where you can apply directly on their website for a job instead of using a job search website such as Indeed.com.

Otherwise I recommend walk-ins or see if any one you know or your partner knows someone who is hiring. That is how I got my job.

You're right. I tried walk ins today and NOBODY IS HIRING. So i ended up going home (with aching feet) and looked online again. Hopefully tomorrow is going to be better. :)

i've heard of them - are you using your google fu, or no ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

meetups are usually in the evening times.

are you morphing your expectations and job seeking skills? what worked back in the home country rarely works in the u.s.a.

In the Philippines, i just do walk ins (no agencies for me) and am sure i'll get a job at the end of the day may it be in retail / tech or the likes.. Did that here yesterday, NOONE is hiring. It amazes me. So yeah, am still trying to adjust my expectations about job hunting here. So much different.
