Hello Everyone,

Sorry I am posting this, I have searched and read many different threads on this topic before but I'm just sort of looking for more up to date advice really!

I have GCSE's from high school, two Level 2 Diploma's,one I did at college when I was young which I haven't used as not required as part of my current career, the other is more recent as I did it through my work and is relevant to my job (Healthcare) I also did a Level 3 diploma when at college in something completely different again which is not currently relevant to my current job.

I do not have a degree as after college I had no choice but to start working and brought myself up, I have heard of people with only school/college qualifications obtaining the GED once in the US as it is easier for US employers to understand rather than trying to explain UK qualifications, I am looking into going into the same profession I am currently in once I can work, but know I will need to become certified to do my current role (Health Care Assistant/Certified Nursing Assistant)

Would it be advisable to get my GED rather than rely on my UK qualifications to get on a CNA course to then hopefully get a job in Healthcare in the US? To start with once I am working I just plan getting any job to get an income going but career wise I wish to maybe progress into nursing in the future once settled and I have gained more experience.

Any tips or ideas would be very useful!

I would have thought you could say High School Graduated equivalent with that unless you really want to do a GED? Do not think Employers are that bothered in checking a HSD, just a tick box.

If you go to the college and show them what you have they will let you know. I went in and did a Compass test and they just said I had to do a few pre-requisites for algebra. When I move I am hoping to do the CNA too. I didn't take all my GCSE's I took Biology but I did NVQ in English and Math. They said this was all fine and were fine with my qualifications at the community college to do a CNA. It's only a 1 month course. As long as you can show competency I don't think they will have an issue.
