Hi Eveyone. My friends stepdaughters have interview scheduled this coming Feb 4 in Manila. One of the daughter got a notification that her papers are in order and the other one said affidavit of support is incomplete I-864A original signatures. Part 5 should be signed by the petitioner.

So my friend and his wife filed I-864. My friends sister sponsored his kids since he doesn't have enough income. My friends sister filed I-864A with her husband. My friends sister and husband lives in a different home. Does my friend need to file I-864A also or just his sister with her husband

Thanks in advance

hi

his sister files the i864 as his joint sponsor, and her husband files the i864A as her household member

'why did his wife fill out an i864? the spouse always fills out the i864A as they file taxes jointly and live in the same house

but really his wife didn't need to file anything, unless combining income they could cover one of their children and needed a joint sponsor for the other

if your friend and his wife didn't make enough together, then his wife didn't need to fill out the affidavit of support

Sorry for the confusion. My friend filed a I-864. My frieds sister also filed I-864. My friends sister and husband filed I864A but the letter he got states the petitioner has to sign part 5 of the I864A. Shouldnt it be the sponsor?

Does my friend need to file I864A also?

hi

no, your friend's wife doesn't need to file the i864A

his sister and her husband both sign the i864A, it is a contract between the joint sponsor and household member or sponsor and household member

so both parties need to sign the i864A

immigration is incorrect, because in his case, it's not the petitioner's spouse who filled the i864A, but the joint sponsor's spouse that did
