Hello guys I wanted to ask if the nvc supposed to keep your documents until the embassy tells them there's an opening for interview? Then they'll send it.. My case has been complete for two months now. This is for my wife To come to America, I'm the petitioner. Will she have it soon? Or is the Cambodian embassy full as of right now? Any information would be grateful. I know some people are different but I would like to know as much as I can. Please and thank you..

Yes I did the ds 160. Did all the stuff I needed with my lawyer. Then she sent it to nvc and month later got email confirming everything is correct and all done, saying waiting for interview. Called them as well to confirm and check my documents if anything missing. They said its all complete and have to wait.. Been two months since then.

Did you fill out ds 160 yet or any of the packet 3

There is no DS 160 on IR-1 or CR-1 visa or packet 3. It's for K-1 only. His case is CR-1/IR-1. Everything handled here at NVC. There is a different form called Ds 260. You are K-1 and confusing between K-1 and IR-1/CR-1

It depends on the country. After NVC procedures completed they schedule Interview based on interview date available at that embassy. It takes between 15 days to 7 months. Cambodia is one of the longest wait time for interview date for IR-1/CR-1 cases. Personally my wife had to wait almost 7 months after NVC procedures completed. Repeated calls and inquiry to NVC and US Embassy in Phnom Penh blamed each other. NVC always told me they have nothing to do with interview date. It's up to US Embassy. US Embassy always replied to me that they are waiting for NVC to forward my file. Anyway it was not only me. Many others during my case had similar time frame. But this was more then 2 years ago. I think now days they are taking anywhere between 3 to 5 months after NVC completed.

i had to wait 5 1/2 months from when case was Completed at NVC to my wife's interview date. NVC should notify you 4 weeks before interview date so your wife will have time to get her medical exam.

What year was your case if I could ask?

I been helping a relative work on a K1 petition. We filled out the DS160, email to US Embassy in Cambodia. They confirmed it. Within a week we got the interview date. You have to go to the US Embassy Phnom Penh website and look for the Visa Scheduled Interview page, there is a PDF file you download / view. Then look for you PHP case number, next to it will be the interview date.

Chum reap sou!

Congrats on getting this far in the process! And on your wedding!

Have you tried calling the Embassy? Once I heard our petition left the NVC, I called the Embassy several times to see if they had received the petition and they were very nice. Maybe they could give you an idea of why it is taking so long? I know it took a month or so to see our interview date on the interview page at the Embassy. And then it was nearly a five month wait until the interview itself! It felt like forever! Sending prayers things have moved along for you!
