Hello everyone!!! Is it really necessary for K-1 visa having all the vaccinations done during medical before interview in the embassy? I just thought if K-1 visa is technically non-immigrant visa it could be possible to get them done in USA, especially if I will have adjusment of status there.

You technically don't need any vaccinations for the K1 - you're completely right with that. You do need them for the AOS and it's usually advised to get them done before the K1 medical to save on the costs of doing them in the US (from what I know, that is really the only reason to have them done before although I may be incorrect).

Best of luck!

You are right, it not necessary for K1. You have the option to do it in the US before AOS.

For us here in the Philippines, most of us K1/ K2 opted to get the necessary vaccines here (Vaccines are age specific, you may need only 1) because the fee for the medical includes all vaccines. So rather than spending again for vaccines in the US, we of course get it all here.

If your medical fees includes the vaccine, of course it is wiser to get it there.

Yeah, it sucks that I have to do medical here, outside of USA, because getting K-1 is still not guranteed...

And, in USA, is it possible to get vaccination done without having green card? just my passport with visa?

Yes, I only need one (varicella zoster) and maybe MMR, but not sure.

What I was reading, my medical im Moscow doesn't include vaccines. The medical itself costs 200$ and additional for vaccines.

if that is the case, you don't have to get it there. Her it cost $235 includes vaccine.

I have read on some thread that you can also get free vaccines on some county clinic in the US. I will explore this option if they will require us more vaccines for AOS.

Ohhh this is a good news about free vaccines, but for anything free I thought they would probably want to see some US ID from me or insurance...?

I am not sure how it works, just read it on one of the forums here. I need to check on that if ever we need it. it also may differ based on what state.

Здравствуйте Alessa! )

You can in fact wait until you come to the U.S. to get more vaccines, and you won't need your green card, as it's part of the necessary documents required to adjust status. I would call around and find out if any doctors wherever you stay in the U.S. will just fill out the vaccination supplement without redoing your entire medical exam (which would be another $200). Some doctors here insist on doing another medical instead of just the vaccines, and as a K-1 visitor, you don't need to do another medical.

Удачи!

You have to see a US Civil Surgeon here in the states. This limits your ability to see anyone and thus they mark up the rates. I'd encourage you to try to get your stuff there. We had to pay much more back here in the US.

You don't need to get vaccinations before arriving US but I would recommend to do it in Russia because in the US it may cost you way more money. If you don't have good insurance some vaccinations can cost you here arm and leg. You don't have to pay for vaccines actually at your medical exam, you can go to your local clinic (поликлиника) before and get them all for free or barely any cost, just be sure they will put it on your records so you can put it on your vaccination list at medical exam for K1. That's what I did myself.

My US fiance called to some county clinic in his city and they said every vaccine costs there 20$, he asked if immigrant can get them, they said yes, but I honestly don't think they would be happy to see some foreign passport instead of US documents.

Hello! Thanks for reply!))

Oh yeah, it's not convinient making medical twice.((

Well I only worry about "varicella" shot, I am going to make blood test for antibodies to varicella, because I don't remember if I ever had a chicken pox, and sometimes it's very light for some people and looks like something simple.

Btw, my mother is 66 y.o. and she never had chicken pox either...or just had low symptoms.

Thanks for reply))

I just looked up the list of services my local clinic does, and there is no vaccination at all (( this clinic for adult, in russia probably only few adults making vaccines, primarily children got shots......so I can only get vaccines done in the private clinic, the price is the same as on the Moscow medical examination.

And varicella shot is most expensive, the other like MMR, are not.

Also, 2 years ago I've done HPV vaccine in the private clinic, and this is probbaly most expensive vaccine ever))

I have vaccine records,it is a little certificate from school I've graduated 10 years ago))
