Quick question about the time frame for the advanced parole. What's the time frame? Say that there was an emergency and my wife HAD to leave the country ASAP, could she apply for advanced parole then leave the country? Then after the parole was approved, assuming the biometrics and interview don't happen in that time frame, fly back legally? There has to be a way to get back home in an emergency, if needed without messin' with the AOS process.

You can not leave the country before having AP in hand, if you do then plan on filing for a new visa.

If you do have an emergency back home, schedule an Info-Pass appointment at your nearest USCIS office, and have documentation handy explaining the emergency, (a letter from a doctor for example) they can issue AP at the local office in cases like that.

Does the need for travel exist as a possibility in your lives?

If so why not file for the document now rather than wait for a crisis?

Yes, USCIS will normally issue AP in case of emergency. But they need proof of it. Why put yourself through the stress of having family members fax over letters from physicians, death certificates, or letters from funeral homes?

I recently read of a member here whose mother passed away literally moments before she entered the mother's hospital room. Sometimes every moment counts and I would hate to see you spending those precious moments waiting in a USCIS lobby.
