I brought bunch of documents but she didn't ask for any documents besides insurance summary for 2016 and my bank statement for April 2016 which I gave her. I applied under the 3 year rule.

I'd wouldn't worry yet but I wouldn't let this week pass without calling either. I don't know about your local office but most interviews tend to be 4-5 weeks after being scheduled and you are almost 2 weeks in. I

Mine took 2 weeks. I would guess you will get it the 2nd or 3rd So probably Monday or Tuesday.

I have been following this forum for a while and I figured I will share my timeline and interview experience.

I had my interview yesterday and the IO was friendly and yet very serious and professional. She started while walking me to her office to take the oath that the good news is its my turn but the bad news is I will not be a citizen that day lol. So obviously I was very disappointed to asked her why. She said that they need to run a Name check on the name displayed on my birth certificate which has a middle name in it. I explained to her that I never used a middle name nor did my GC and any of my passports have it she did not care. We went to her office and she went through my application and she said everything is fine I dont have any issues with my application nor background check she even showed me the FP and Name check background results and the both had no record. she told me she would have approved me on the spot if I did not have a different name on my birth certificate which btw I had sent them back in 2013 for I485. She made sign 3 papers with a name change request to drop my middle name which I signed and I also signed the pictures that I had originally sent with my application. She told me that the name check could take a week or a year so I left her office extremely disjointed. my online status have not changed yet and still display interview scheduled.

Did anyone of you guys had a similar situation with a Decision cannot be made yet pending a name check? I would appreciate any inputs and your help. I am just really hoping the new name check comes back quickly...

I'm thinking I have a similar issue waiting on my wife's interview. From people we know from the past year who filed, this is taking longer than their process took, so I can only assume the local office has more applications in this year.

I think it was because of your case that I mention before about “Controlled Application Review and Resolution Program” (CARRP), is a plan that George W Bush put in practice after 9/11 where muslim males names coming from muslim countries, get unexplainable delays, we can fight this un-American issue or turn a blind eye, thinking that this issue "DO NOT AFFECT ME". It is a myth that the number of applications explode during election years. Historical naturalization data does not support that with the exception of 2008. Election year 2008 had the all-time high naturalized citizens with over a million people. The main reason for this explosion was the increased filing fee. What used to be $400 was increased to the current $680 in late 2007 and a lot of people filed before the new fee was in effect. Wait until they increase the filing fee to around $1000 and probably 2 million people would apply regardless of an election.

The timeline shows your biometrics were given on 3/1. If that's correct, it is been just over two months since your biometrics, not three yet. The rep was correct, your case is still considered within normal processing time. Nothing to worry about at this point, it is too early to speculate. Though for majority of cases biometric results are returned within the first 30 days, USCIS/FBI considers three months as normal for the biometrics. Hopefully you will hear something very soon.
