Do they allow spouse during Citizenship Interview?

In the interview itself, no. I'm talking about being there for the wait, not for the interview itself.

I'm leaning towards not going, especially if it's mid-day. Maybe if it's first thing in the AM (7:30 or 8), I'll go into work an hour late - we live kind of in between USCIS and my office so it works out perfectly in that sense. I don't think Orlando offers same day interviews and, even if they do, I could still make it on time with as little as 1/2 hour notice. I have seen some interviews scheduled as soon as 3 days after so I also wouldn't want to risk taking more time off in a one week period if that happens. Besides, my Mom has already offered to go with her to keep her company, whenever it may be.

Hye, do you guys know for sure, When will uscis would take our gc. Is it at the interview or at the oath ceremony?

Thanks, (planing to go abroad a week after interview )

I'm 100% sure, but I've seen on VJ that it's taken at the oath ceremony. You won't be a USC until then and you'll still need the GC (as an LPR) in the meantime. On the other hand, if the Oath ceremony is scheduled between the interview and the following week, you won't have anything to use for travel unless you postpose it (the oath).

I have no idea how post-interview, pre-oath international travel would affect the naturalization though (i.e., reporting foreign travel).

We're both going, although we've both got plenty of vacation time saved up and understanding supervisors. Even if they don't let us both into the interview, showing up together can only give a good impression to the IO, and it's nice to be there for moral support!

:clock:

While we're just killing time waiting: If you are married, does your spouse intend to go with you the day of your USCIS interview?

On one hand, I would like to go with my wife that day just to keep her company while she waits. I seem to remember my USCIS local office does not like extra people around so I don't know if I'd be able to wait inside with her until she's called or not.

But, on the other hand, I don't want to burn vacation time that we will badly need later this year on just the interview. If she were to take the oath that day, it would be different. I certainly wouldn't want to miss that! But I'm also guessing, if it were to be offered to her that day, there'd be time for her to call me? Our local office is only 20-30 minutes away from my office so I could get there on fairly short notice.

What does everyone else planning on doing? I'm still deciding...

I am planning to go to the Oath Ceremony. We've got three kids, so I'll be watching them during her interview ....

Your GC will be taken away at the oath ceremony since you will have become a new naturalized US citizen! Enjoy your travels!

Then a police report about your lost GC or a USCIS receipt showing payment for a replacement comes in handy!
