Sorry for not updating about this sooner.... My husband's interview was in August, and after a very long day and an intense interview, he was told he passed the test but got a note that no decision could be made at that time. We were both very disappointed of course because even though we knew that was a possibility, we were hoping for an approval right away. We spoke with our lawyer right away, who said there was nothing to do but wait and it may take 2 weeks, 2 months or even longer....

But yesterday we got a text the case had been updated and when we checked the website, we saw this!

Oath Ceremony Notice Was Mailed

We scheduled your oath ceremony for Receipt Number NBC*00000000. We sent a notice with the date, time, and location of your oath ceremony to the address you gave us. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your notice by November 17, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Yahoo!!!! One step closer to being done with USCIS! We are so excited and anxious to know what date the ceremony is! Does anyone know if we call the 1-800 number if they can tell us the date instead of waiting for the notice?

Hi, just wanted to let everyone know I had my oath ceremony on Oct 14 in Brooklyn (225 Cadman Plaza). I had to leave for an international trip the next day (got a same day US passport from Manhattan passport agency after making an afternoon appointment ahead of time) so didn't have time to update the forum until now. Anyway, for those in the future who may find it helpful, here's a detailed summary of my timeline below. Thanks again for everyone's contributions and best of luck to those who are still waiting!

Congrats to you, the exact thing happened to me they said I could not be approved because the system was down that does the final background check, but like you I got a text message confirming my oath had been scheduled. The letter came within a few days so not long for you to wait now. Enjoy the Oath Ceremony... I did!!!!!!!

My application is stuck too. More than 8 months and counting. Have been told that it is awaiting security clearance.

You are not alone, I went to an infopass and they said basically they are swamped. They also said resources will be shifted back to l-485. Did you try your congressman or woman?

Interview Was Scheduled

On November 17, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number NBC*0000000000. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

Finally after waiting for 8 months and 10 days we finally received the letter for my wife's interview. She did her biometrics on 3/7 and nothing until this weekend. We didn't get any email nor text message, we found out by the letter. Very funny story I went to the mailbox because stuff I ordered online had arrived and the whole fam was in the car waiting for me so I just grabbed the rest of the letters from the box and handed them to my wife as I got in the car, she frantically yelled out; "YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!! IT'S HERE!!!" I didn't know it was the letter, but she said look it's my interview letter. Then she said; "OH MY GOD! Here you open it" I told her that it was her letter and she should open it, she did and she read the date 12/22 early in the am.

I must say this has been the hardest wait for us, we were pretty much losing hope. My wife pretty much stopped studying and well I kept the fight going in the background requesting help from our congressman, our senators and finally on 11/7 from the USCIS Ombudsman, funny how 10 days later we get the interview notice. Possibly coincidence.

Well we are now back to the study sessions as we only have 25 days to the interview. I'll modify my vation time as I had requested a week from the 23rd on so I'll do the 22nd, work the 23rd and travel after work. What a Thanksgiving surprise and hopefully it will be a great Christmas gift as not only will my wife become a citizen, but our oldest daughter too.

All those still waiting for the interview please keep hopes up. I would say ask your congressman or woman to assist, I found Paul Cook to be very helpful. The senators took a while to respond and if you're not getting anywhere definitely try the USCIS Ombudsman.

Unfortunately my application is still pending.

Did you do anything to move the process along? Write to senator/oumbudsman etc? I did but only recently so waiting to see what happens

sent it to oumbudsman 2 days back, but i am not sure if that triggered it.
