Is it wise to apply for the passport CARD also?

I think it is.

As mentioned above, it's valid for land and sea travel to Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

More importantly, it's an extra proof of citizenship. If you lose your passport, and need a new one, you can use the card as proof of citizenship instead of digging out your naturalization certificate. If you're abroad and you lose your passport, it's a quick way to prove your citizenship at the nearest US consulate. It's also another form of government issued ID that's easy to carry; it might come in handy if you lose your drivers license and need to hop on a plane.

In short, it can't do anything a passport book can't do, and it's not as useful as a passport book, but it is easy to carry and can come in handy. I think it's worth the price, especially since it's good for 10 years.

I opted to get the card because of RealID. I live in a state that has failed for over 10 years to get their state IDs up to par, and currently has a grace period of two years to get their #### together (meaning that my driver's license will work for domestic flights up until sometime in January 2018 and then who knows what will happen). Having a federally issued document like the passport and passport card (which fits in my wallet like the driver's license) will make sure that my ID will always work.

Another good point to consider. My state is RealID compliant, but in my wife's case, we might get her one just because it is an easier way to carry around proof of citizenship not just legal residence/presence.

I think I just tipped back towards renewing mine! :lol:

I will this time now that it's an option. Although, the reason for most of the trips that filled it up so fast lives with me now! :lol:

GOT MY PASSPORT!

Woo hoo!

It's pretty quick ay. I applied for my daughters one and got it in less than 2 weeks.

I applied for a Swiss passport for the first time just the other day. Such an easy process!

I hope I get my passport in a couple of weeks too....the USPS lady said you will get it in 6 weeks but I hope it's way faster! I think I will really feel like I am a citizen once I get my U.S. passport lol

Starting Week #2 with no post-interview news... Is there usually a text for being placed In-line for Oath or just when the Oath is scheduled?

I hope I get my passport in a couple of weeks too....the USPS lady said you will get it in 6 weeks but I hope it's way faster! I think I will really feel like I am a citizen once I get my U.S. passport lol

Oh for sure. I felt more like it when I ot the passport than I did with the certificate lol..

But I'm still really upset that the post office STAPLED my BRAND NEW CERTIFICATE

Adjustment of Status from H-1B, Family-Based
07/26/2012 - 10/18/2012: 85 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Removal of Conditions
07/22/2014 - 11/14/2014: 116 Days from Application Received to GC Received.
Naturalization
02/03/2016 - 05/31/2016 : 119 Days from Application Received to Oath Ceremony.

I am a United States citizen!

same here....I had my brand new certificate for a few hours lol I just found out that it is very expensive to get a replacement if you lose your certificate....gotta store it very safely lol

Yes. You get a text for inline and a text for letter sent. Usually 3 days later you get the letter in the mail :)

I guess I should have said "End of Week #2". Tomorrow starts Week #3.. I guess this means my wife is still sitting at "Recommended for Approval" but is not yet "Approved".

An August trip for my b-day is looking less and less likely...
