Other than that it took 6(!) hours waiting, the DMV changed my wife's license without even asking for the marriage certificate because she was already using her married name (as shown on her GC). It was a simple re-issue replacing middle initial on the old one with her full, married name. Now to see if USCIS finally gets the hint that there is no name change involved...

I called to USCIS 1-800 number and they said I shouldn't be worried about online status and I'm good to go to the Ceremony.

You can request a specific date range but if there are no ceremonies scheduled for that range, they'll ignore your request and just schedule you for the next available ceremony.

Even if there are ceremonies during they range you specify, they may or may not acknowledge the range you specify. In most cases you'll be placed inline again for the next available ceremony.

Requesting a new date can cause a delay or a few weeks or several months. My advice would be to try to take time off of work and come back for the ceremony. If that's not possible, reschedule with a letter of explanation and see what happens.

Note that if you are rescheduled for a second oath and you can't attend that one either, your application may be denied.

Hey akdua1, we have the same problem - we filed in New York City and the oath ceremony is scheduled in the City, but we're currently in Bethel, Alaska. But, out of fear of delaying the oath ceremony indefinitely or USCIS randomly picking another time that's equally inconvenient, we're flying back to New York just for the ceremony. We'll be in the City for less than 24 hours - just long enough for the oath ceremony - and then returning to Alaska. It's a pain, but work understood how important this is and gave us leave.
