N-400 February 2016 Filers

Thanks trotomundo. I understand but I see more cases which are approved than cases which are not from the timeline . Is that because of the difference of "3-YEAR" and "5-YEAR"? Moreover, I see the processing time for N-400 on USCIS website is only Oct/Nov 2015. How come those 2016 cases get approved?

FWIW I called CS on the 91 day since Biometrics (and ~4 months since filing) with no update. Short wait, agent was polite and solicitous but of course whole thing was waste of time. "case is within processing time-frame" - umh not really, even if my San Francisco office is reporting 6 months there is no way they will "process" mine in 6 months given that is not even in-line 4 months after filing! The only marginally helpful thing on was that once 6 months have passed, they would put in a service request. Good grief, that would be August!!

There seem to be a solid minority of us laggards stuck in background/name check. Do update yourself in the table, it helps everybody. And no, there is no correlation between processing times and 3 vs. 5 years. My understanding is that the reporting processing times are something like "middle 80%", i.e. neither the newest case the office process nor the oldest.

It does suck to see so many people in bright red already while oneself is still at "we received your case on...".

I pass the interview on June 9 in El Paso. What a relief :dancing:

Questions:

What is freedom of religion?

How many US Senators are there?

When must all men register for the Selective Service

When was the Constitution written?

What ocean is on the east coast of the US?

Name one state that borders Canada.

I don't remember sentences.

My Oath ceremony most likely will be on the July 22 in El Paso . I saw their schedule :)

It varies widely.

An Orlando filer from January was put in line after 7 days and received the letter mailed notice about a month later. My wife interviewed in the same office exactly one week ago today and has not received the 'in line' text/email as of yet.

I agree, it varies depending on the local office. Orlando does not have same day oaths if the approval is given.

The sequence of updates go as :Inline for Oath, scheduled for Oath and Oath Letter Mailed. The latest 2 approvals took 45 days ( from interview day to Oath day, both cases, straight approvals, no name change, regular quick administrative ceremonies)

I think Orlando is quite backlogged compared to other cities of the same size. That said, there are cities with larger wait times too.

Which is why my wife is updating her other IDs to show her full name instead of just her middle initial (full married name is already reflected on her GC, but it was unacceptable to USCIS???) Her new SS Card has already arrived and she's off to the DMV today to update her license to show her full name. If the clerks at the SSA and DMV can update her legal identification based on her marriage certificate, then USCIS certainly has that authority. With all of her IDs (GC, SS Card, FL DL) matching 100%, there is no reason why USCIS should still send her to a judicial ceremony to have the same name put on her Certificate of Naturalization.

Now, the issue will be scheduling an infoPass in time (nothing available) or having luck being able to walk-in before they put her in line for a courthouse ceremony. I'm actually pleased that she hasn't been put in line for Oath yet because that means there's still time to try to fix it.

Anyone have any tips on what and what not to wear on interview? ?

Business or business casual...like you would go on a daily basis to an office.

Common sense: no mini skirts, flip flops, shorts, Bermudas, tank tops (unless you have like a jacket or blazer), no ripped jeans, mini dresses or beach dresses, no deep cleavage or transparencies.

It might not been an issue if you decide to wear one of these items but I don't think it will send the right message. The IO in my service center they were all very well dressed almost business or a very formal business casual.

For me, this is way bigger and more important than a job interview...my opinion

Yes an infopass appointment would be fitting. I and a few others have had many problems with the Infopass at Orlando, sometimes backlogged a month plus.

There was a time last year, I checked the website every day, 3 times a day, for weeks to get an appointment. The website just would not show any open days.

And sometimes, it had most of the days open for the full month, all when u need it the least. Such is life. :dancing:

Yeah, that's what she's running into now. She/we haven't checked that often but it always shows nothing available. We just need to keep looking and trying! Since there has been no post-interview movement yet, we're still holding out some hope that her IO's supervisor will catch that she doesn't need to see a judge to take her married name, especially since her GC already shows her full, married name and even her other IDs show her married last name. Even with just the MI, it's obvious that she already changed it!

My SS Card only has my middle initial. I'm starting to wonder if my full legal name is what's on my birth certificate, passport and DL!

New guys, those who filed N400 in February 2016 but are not in our chart.

Please provide me with your data and I will add you to our chart.

I think it is UNFAIR you know our progress from the chart and we have no idea about your status.

Please provide me with data.
