Finally got my status update that my oath ceremony has been scheduled and the mail has been sent!! My guess is I will receive the letter next week and probably attend my oath ceremony the following week?

Congrats!

HI Guys

I had my interview today (05/27/16) in the morning at 11.00 am. I have passed the test and it says you will be notified when and where to report for the oath ceremony.

The interview duration was around 30 mints. The IO asked about : who applied for my immigration, my foreign trips and tax returns, marriage and about the application.

The six question was:

1. What is the freedom of religion?

2. Name a state that has border with mexico?

3. The last date of tax return?........

The she asked me to read a question.

Then she asked me to write down..." We pay taxes."

Wish you guys good luck with your N-4000 process.

Thx

Congrats!

Will I be able to sit with my husband during the ceremony?

No

I don't know about Detroit. From akihon's answer it looks like the answer is no for Chicago.

In Houston, applicants sit with their guests.

In Brooklyn, guests aren't even on the same floor... they watch on TV from a cafeteria.

So it differs from city to city and even from venue to venue within the same city.

I thought applicants can be in the same hall but NOT seated next to their guests? Seems like that is normally the case.

I don't know what the rules are in each city, but as I said above, in Houston, applicants and their guests sit together. You can search for Houston oath ceremonies on YouTube; it's pretty obvious applicants are sitting next to their family members who are not being naturalized.

In some cities guests sit in the back or off to the side.

In Brooklyn (at least at one location) the room is small so guests go to a different floor and watch live on closed circuit TV. When the ceremony is over guests join applicants in the room.

There's no set USCIS policy. It depends on the venue.

I have been waiting for the interview letter for almost 2 months already. No idea why it is taking so long for me.

I filed my documents on Feb 29, 2016 and my biometric appointment was on Mar 29.

Anyway my case status online has never been updated. It has been stuck at "Case was received". So I have no idea if my case has now been in line for interview or if my interview letter has been sent out and somehow I missed it or not.

Should I be worried and call USCIS office now? My field office is San Bernardeno.

This also happened to me last year when I did remove condition. My case was never updated until my green card was sent out.

We're in the same boat as you. Filed 2/12, bio was done on 3/7 and online still says, "Case was received..." We also have the San Bernardino field office, we called around 5/8 and just got the canned answer that the field office is working on the 5 months status so we would have to wait until 7/12 to call back in and escalate. I find that ridiculous, I also asked why the status was not updated and I didn't really get an answer to that. Plus I keep checking the status on processing times for the San Bernardino office and I swear every other week the status goes from 5 months to a date in 2015 last I saw was 11/12/2015, I just checked now and it says 5 months. So I don't have much faith in this office being well organized or it is probably super busy. At any rate we are also just waiting, hoping news comes soon. I would love for my wife to vote in this election.

P.S. Hang in there and don't loose patience.

Thank you very much for letting me know Im not in this weird situation alone right here. Last year it took me 11.5 months to get my 10 years green card with this field office and my case status was not updated one bit. I called that time too after months went by and my friend who also filed the I-751 at the same time as I did with the other field office already got her new 10 years green card. A few months after I called they sent me an interview letter that time. So I went to the interview for my remove condition case and I could see there were ton of people doing citizenship test that day at the San Bernardeno office!

I would like to call so bad right now with hope it will help me get my interview date sooner. But Im afraid what I will hear would be I have to wait longer to call them back cause its been only 2 months after my biometric appointment!

Nail biting time now. Thinking to call after this weekend to ask!

As my wife has been inline for for over two months, I decided to give USCIS a call last Thursday. I didn't really expect to get much information from the call. Asked for a tier 2 rep and was told to leave a message and they would call back, theoretically within 55 minutes. Almost 4 hours later they called back. The tier 2 rep claimed they could not see what dates were currently getting interviews scheduled or give any idea of when the interview would be. After politely discussing with the rep our concerns, basically people we know who have recently been through this had gotten their interviews much quicker, including one who was sworn in last month. He asked if I could hold for a while, and of course I said yes. When he came back on the line, he told us we should get an answer by the 8th, as to when we might get scheduled for an interview. I'm not sure if this is actually when the schedule will be set and a letter mailed or not. His phrasing was rather strange, as if trying to avoid saying something straight out, although it was apparent he was a native speaker of English. I wonder if he was trying to tell us something that they're not allowed to actually say? I thanked him for his efforts. Well hopefully we'll finally get scheduled by the 8th or at least get word as to when they might schedule us.

With a handful of other people, I'm in the same boat, going on 2.5 months since fingerprinting. My case was never updated past receipt (but apparently the forum wisdom is that there is no update for fingerprinting). BUT, just as you, 5 years ago the green card online tracking was never updated / notification sent, we literally found the cards in the mail !

I'm SF office, so if the case is actually "in-line for interview", then it IS within the ~6 month timeframe for this office. But if it is still in background check 3 mo. after fingerprinting, then obviously is not normal timeline and won't process in 6 months...

I'll call against hope USCIS on the 90th day from fingerprinting...
