I passed the interview!

It went pretty smoothly, and I was only with the immigration officer for about 15 minutes. She was cheerful and friendly yet professional, and apologized for being late (my appointment was scheduled for 10:35, and she called my name at 10:45). Several people ahead of me were late, she said, and so she got behind. I told her it was no problem, I wasn't in any hurry, and even though I got there super early (I didn't know what traffic would be like this morning on the I-35, sometimes it's gridlock) I brought a good book. She made me feel very relaxed.

When we got to her office, before I sat down, she asked me to take an oath that I would tell the truth. Once I did that, she asked for my green card and drivers license (those were the only pieces of ID she asked for). She then started going through my N-400 application, confirming the information that was in there. About half way through she stopped, and I did the reading and writing test--I passed. Then was the civics test. The questions she asked me were:

1. Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

2. Name three of the 13 original states.

3. Name one state that borders Mexico.

4. What is the political party of the President now?

5. What are two major political parties in the US?

6. Who is the Commander in Chief of the military?

I got all of the answers correct. She then continued going through my application, and she said that she considers me approved. She said that in about a week another officer would double-check my application and my test results--if there was any concern, she would call me and ask me to come back in. She doesn't think there will be an issue. She also said in about a week I should receive by mail the location, date and time of the oath ceremony. She said it could be in Austin or San Antonio.

And that was it! She took me back downstairs, and said to be sure I say "hi" if I see her at the oath ceremony. Easy-peasy!

Which is partly why its a sticky question now. I told my wife to say there is supposed to be nine, but currently there are 8.

Yep. There are usually 9 but at the present time there is a vacancy so there are only 8 right now.

Here is my interview,

Was scheduled for 2:15, i got there at 1:15, i waited till 2:35 until the officer called my name. Very friendly officer.

When we walked into his office he told me to sit and raise my right hand, asked me for my gc and passport.

he asked the civiv questions and reading and writing test.

1. What did the declaration of independence do?

2.How many justices are in the supreme court?

3.if both the president and vice president cant no longer serve who become president?

4. What does the president cabinet do?

5. We elected a us senator for how many years?

6. Name one branch of the government?

Reading : when is columbus day?

Writing: columbus day is on october

He then start asking the NO questions, if i was divorced, to confirm DOB, if i was working.

Then while he check some papers we talked about the city i live and the work enviroment at uscis. I told him i have to catch a flight back home and he said we better hurry. Sent me to the waiting room to wait for the oath ceremony paper ( june 16 at 11, it says that would last 4 to 5 hours) and congratulate me.

The whole interview last no more than 10 to 12 mnts.

Passed my interview today in NYC and I was told to wait for the mail, which will tell when my oath ceremony will be. I hope it's sooner than later..maybe 2~3 weeks?

Congrats! So they didn't just tell you the date of your oath ceremony? Our interview is next Monday here in the City, and we are secretly hoping that we'll get the oath ceremony before we leave for Alaska at the end of the month, but I guess it's not looking likely, eh?
