Let's just mandate that every thing in America, companies, govt , awards, sports teams, etc be balanced by racial demographic. Done everything is cool then.

IBM 13% black

NBA 13 % black

Govt workforce 13% black

How would that work for you guys

Awards

Sigh.........

I think you are confused my friend. I call you my friend because even though we are at odds sometimes, I still like you as a person and you aren't downright nasty to me.

Good black people, (not low lives because we know we have some, every race does), do not want ANYTHING handed to them. We want to work for them like everyone else. However, if MaryAnn has the same degree, same work load, same everything as me, I shouldn't have to work 3 times harder than her to be recognized or given equal treatment. It's really simple.

Don't call me out of my name and I won't call you out of yours

Don't call my kid out of his/her name and I won't call your's out of his/her name

Teach your kid good, I'll teach mine

You work hard/i'm working hard

See, what we want is really simple, but what we get isn't the simple treatment we want.

That's just like you wanting your wife to cook, clean, love you and make you moan every once in a while

Instead she cooks once a month, cleans 3 times a month, love you sometimes and sometimes she don't, and make you moan 1 every 3 months. Would you say this is fair treatment?

Regardless of her bio page, people call her black, yes? If it looks black in America, it is black.

Check out Obama's bio page. Will you decide to call him white now? "His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, born in Wichita, Kansas, was of mostly English ancestry."

I dunno - do they call Stacey black? I think that's a big part of the problem.

as to Banal Barry - I always thought he wasn't Black Enough to handle the fixing of Black Problems in America. Which, alas, is the big thing that African-Americans were clamoring about, before the first election.

Fast Forward 7 years, and Banal Barry, at least to me, is NOT Black enough to be a purveyor of change. Sure, he talks purty, but that's not his blackness seeping out...

And no, I'm not giving examples of his failures to better the African-American communities. He's failed them, in toto. I had some hope, at year 5, that he would embrace his Whiteness and be a purveyor of positive changes for the USA, but that hasn't happened. I have hope, he'll embrace his Whiteness and do something really really really stellar.

Blacks are 13 percent of the population and have received about 12.5% of the rewards in the past 20 years.. more race baiting hysteria

Once again…nature boy delivers the facts that tell the real story. You should get an award and even a reward for having common sense. I nominate you for "VJ Poster of the Year 2016"

should it be about an equal percentage? i don't think so, it should be about equal consideration. i haven't seen any of the movies up, so i can't comment on any of the performances but it's possible that the performances/movies that were snubbed were actually better than the nominations made. if this is the case (pretty subjective) and has been the case over time then percentages don't mean much.

That is the case with every single nomination, regardless of race. What does that have to do with race? Some people actually believe that if a movie makes a lot of money and it does not get nominated or receive an award ….it is racist. How dumb can they be? The awards have always been subjective and IMO have never represented what constitutes a great movie. The People choice awards better represent the best movies.

Common sense is not so common…and thats why Nature boy deserves an award. He has it!!!!

I think that it is one thing to call things racist that really are racist, but when you call things racist that are not, it is like the boy who cries wolf - kind of makes your real cries to be taken less seriously (not saying it's right, just that it is how it is).

I do agree that there needs to be some work done all around this topic, I think that people do need to fight to be treated equally, but I think that there needs to be some more wisdom given on how to do it, because the way it is being done now is only bringing more division - meanwhile our country faces much worse threats. The media is feeding us to be divided while we need to be united.

I also think that when you look at the percentages of races in the movies we need to see also, how many blacks/whites/asians are pursuing acting as a career? Because if the pool to choose talent from is 10% asian, 30% black, and 60% white then we probably should expect to see somewhere close the same ratio in actual films. Many career choices are influenced by our upbringings and cultures itself. Some cultures esteem business ownership more than others, some esteem technology, some the arts etc.

Think below the surface, react beyond emotions, use wisdom and progress will be made :)

Not black enough ? Embrace his whiteness ? I think President Obama is quite confident in knowing who he is and embracing what he identifies

with not what you or I want him to be, black, white, biracial. I think your statements are putting too much emphasis on his skin.

no. my statements were about what he has done and failed to do. not the color of his skin. If you're taking offense at what I've written, that's ok. I've written about it here almost 2 years, his failures...

Point being is that the pool of quality and performance was there (google the films and actors)to at least give nomination a fair chance, no matter how you want to spin the percentage.

You say there needs to be 'some work' done and the way it is being done now only brings division, would you mind elaborating what you mean ?

Division in the entertainment industry is a logical result of not being a fair organization and not because someone brings awareness to unequality.

It is the resistance to fairness and equality that's the problem not the voices demanding it. You want to stop division ? Be inclusive.

ya, that was Stacey Dash's point - many people miss her preface, focusing instead on just a branch of an if/then/else construct.
