Age Difference

I don't think 9 years is that big age difference. There're plenty of couples with 15-25 years difference and I've heard of cases when they get a hard time at the interview and being asked to provide a lot of supplementsl documents proving their bona fide relationship, but 9 years... no, you should be fine.

Like everyone said, it depends on cultural norms for your country. Google it and see if anyone else has had problems. At the end of the day, if it is a legit marriage its legit. You need to check out people in the DR and see what kind of problems they had marrying an older woman, if any. Again, a 22 year old philipino woman and a 40 year old american man is normal. however, a 45 year old philipino woman and a 30 year old american man is not, and that would be scrutinized more.

i would relax but make sure you have a ton of information ect.

Ok, thanks. It's pretty normal in our culture, I believe. I just didn't know in terms of getting visas weather it would be an issue or not. I don't know anyone who has gone through the K-1 Visa, only the Visas when they are already married. I was born here in the U.S. but my parents are Dominican and I have seen both ways - older man/younger woman and vice versa. My mom is 8 years older than my dad. Everyone that knows us, family and friends don't even know that I'm older than him. They think he's older.and he loves it! :)

Age is just a number.

oh damn! that just confirms that you will be ok:) you're family is from the DR and that obviously adds credibility to your relationship.. aka same cultural backgrounds and the fact your parents are the same age difference will be fine. Just make sure you collect all the information and proof of a bonifide relationship:)

IMO if you are a couple, you will look like one:) however, i feel as though many people are 'bias' or 'blind to love' lol totally off topic, but not sure if you have seen 90 day fiance! LOL!

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum and to this whole visa process. I just sent in our K-1 package last month. We received the NOA1 on December 28th. I'm the US Citizen and I'm petitioning for my fiance. He's 9 years younger than me and I was wondering if anyone has ever encounter an issue because of age. He looks older me.., thanks mom for the great genes! :joy:

I'm little worried that this might be an issue. I'm 45 he's 36,

Hope, your wife don't see this post. haha :ranting:

I am 21 years older than my husband we have had no issues, he has applied for citizenship. They cannot deny based on age alone, it's discrimination
