OT - American Airlines to the PH?

I feel your concern. When my twins were younger, I took ever opportunity to make my life easier. I see your doing the same. Every airlines you mentioned I have had problems with but I still fly them as there isn't much out there that is better than the others. I can remember sitting on the tarmac for 4 hours in Dallas during a thunderstorm waiting to take off. They would not take the plane back to the terminal. That was previous to the laws that was pass a few years latter that after 2 hours they must return to the gate. I crawled into bed at 3 am from that trip. Thank you for the memories AA.

Flew them on my last trip to Phil and wished I had seen my dentist for a root canal. At least they give you something at the end of your dental visit. AA sure knows how to make my life miserable. Never again will I fly them Internationally. Your right FA are old and work with an attitude.

You deserve a medal for flying with twins on AA.

Your experience doesn't give me much comfort but it does help manage my expectations. Just found out that our tickets are non-refundable. Great. AA's FAs remind me of PAL FAs on international flights.

What a life lesson this is. Unfortunately, those of us with tight budgets don't have much choice. Dallas isn't much of an international hub either and flight options to Asia are extremely limited and kinda pricey (unlike San Francisco or LAX).

When my wife and older kids were flying from PI to USA I booked them on pal to LAX and then a red eye on Delta to Raleigh. They said their flight was fine.

Good luck on your trip and safe travels.

I haven't seen anyone mention the airline I flew on so I figured I would tell you about it. I flew on Cathay Pacific to the Philippines last October and just bought a ticket from them for my flight back to the Philippines in a couple weeks. I paid around $850 round trip from Chiago to Hong Kong then Hong Kong to Manila. The in flight entertianment was pretty decent and had a good selection of movies and other stuff although I watched movies on my laptop half the time. The food wasn't a gormet meal but it was half way decent (mostly Asian food) and they had free snacks and drinks you could ask them for at any time on the flight. The flight attendants were all friendly. On my flight back me and some other people got lucky and we each had 3 seats to ourselves and were able to sleep laying on all 3 seats lol.The flight from Chicago to Hong Kong didn't take more than 17 hours and from Hong Kong to Manila a little over an hour. They are pretty good about what you can have as a carry on too. For the price and how quick you get to Manila I would recommend them to anyone.

I have flown Cathay from Chicago to HK to Manila before (pre-kid) and so far, it's been the best international flight that I've experienced. FAs were super nice and generous. I asked for some cup noodles about 3 different times and every time they would do a beverage or snack service they'll ask if I wanted more lol. I just couldn't fly with them this time because tickets from our airport to LAX or Chicago are expensive, about $600 RT for me and the toddler.

Thank you! I only enjoy PAL when flying domestic because the alternative is Cebu Pacific and I reserve flying with them for desperate moments.

What issues do you have with Korean and AA? What are you looking for out of the flight? I've flown to the Philippines 9 times and as long as I make it there safely, I'm a happy man. I've used JAP, Korean, Asiana, and Delta. No problems out of any of them. No matter what though you just can't please everyone so someone will find problems with every airline.

I have no problems with Korean, it's AA I have a problem with.

On a long haul flight with a toddler, friendly FAs are top priority for me. Unfortunately, out of all the times I've flown with AA domestically, I've only experienced rude attendants who gave me an attitude every time I asked for something. I wasn't even asking for anything extraordinary, mostly paper towels or water.
