it's difficult for a K-1 visa holder, adjusting status, to amass evidence if the AOS casefile is filed soon after marriage. You want to file it soon, so she gets legal status faster.

USCIS knows about this, so the evidenciary rules for this exact type of adjustment of status casefile are less than other adjustment types. Or you're confusing the rules for the Removal of Conditions casefile ?

So, as of today? Whaddya got? send what you got. For many, it's simply a wedding certificate plus wedding photos plus photos done of the reception or honeymoon...

as to interview day, well, that's a date in the future, and yer supposed to start amassing evidence anyway, keep it in a shoebox, as you'll need it 2+ years down the road for the RoC Casefile - and you can bring that evidence in then, if'n you actually get an interview. Many adjusting from a K-1 visa do NOT get an interview.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

I wouldn't wait to get more evidence before you send in your AOS. What you have right now (as long as you haven't been married for years) is enough to submit now. We sent in the wedding certificate and one joint bank statement. We didn't even send wedding pictures. My husband was approved without an RFE or an interview (we received an interview waiver because our local center is so backed up). We did start building our evidence hoard after sumbitting our AOS application in case we had an interview.

The only proof of marriage/relationship that is required with the initial I-485 submission is a copy of your marriage certificate. Save evidence like that of co-mingling finances and co-habitation for your interview, if you even have one.

Agreed, we saved the photos, bank statements, insurance documents etc. for the interview of which we did have one.

Good Luck!

An Immigration Officer at USCIS told us to send in pictures so we did that. They said that if we send in proof now, it could shorten the interview time if we have one. A lot of people say you should take everything the Immigration Officers at USCIS says with a grain of salt but I believe that it won't hurt to send in what you got. If pictures and marriage certificate is all you got, then send that in. If you have more, that's just a plus.

We ended up sending in pictures, marriage certificate, copy of lease on apartment showing both our names and auto- and health insurance with me as beneficiary.

Sure, it's not a requirement but it sure doesn't hurt to send in a bit extra. Just don't prolong sending in your AOS for months just to gather things.
