I'm from Michigan.

Moved away over 20 years ago to the west coast.

Michigan is mostly white, african american or Arabic and they seem to live in their own areas.

There are Filipino's everywhere however even in that God forsaken place. -Schools crumbling water is literally poison.

Anyway try the yellow pages or google Filipino Stores they have a few there.

You could also try your luck in Windsor Canada it is a bit more cosmopolitan.

Hope you can meet someone.

Oh Facebook groups is another option.

I feel you. We live in a small, mostly Mexican town (might as well be in Mexico, said the husband) with no Asian stores. There's only 3 other Chinese and 1 Korean families here.

We moved from Michigan to California 2 years ago and sadly, I never did make any Filipino friends there We lived in the northeastern Michigan (Lower Peninsula but closer to Canada than anywhere else, really - LOL) and it was freezing so close to the water XD I did have a Chinese doctor though - she was wonderful!

meetup.com can be useful, sometimes, when yer using a PC.

Failing that, a google search on

'tagalog catholic <<state name>>'

will reveal all catholic church services in tagalog, usually a larger catholic church will have a special reserved time for a tagalog service. I'm not saying to go to the service, but call the Church, ask for the contact name and number of the coordinator - you need to be 'filled in' by a local, soonish.

We live in the savannas of West Texas lol. Miles and miles of flat lands. Plenty of sun, not enough water. I'm an island girl so I'm missing the salt in the air and the coconut trees. I can't imagine being in all that snow though. More power to you. I'll take my plains over snow any day.

yeah, i miss the sun so much. its different starting the day with the sun around. snow is quite a beauty but being used with the sun, i would still love to be in such place everyday. haha. i wish i could explore right now but this weather though,urrggghhh.
