Been here for about three months now and just started to apply to cgfns to get my credentials evaluated and waiting for my documents to get done. I'm actually lost on what to do next on top of what kind of job can a foreign nurse like me get here in Michigan? (As I know it takes a while for this get done with all the things needed just to take nclex here).

go to allnurses.com

it is a nursing board and would have all the information you need:) You will probably find other PI nurses in MI there and know what hospitals are better than others to work at and anything else you want.

I know it takes a while to get everything read to get the NCLEX.. maybe start studying for that, as I hear it is hard for international nurses to pass? But it sounds as though you have great english, so you would be a step up!!

I created an account in allnurses site but I'm lost on how to use it. I'm really anxious about the evaluation thing as I don't want to do additional schooling just to get it done as it requires effort and money and most importantly time. Haha. And I haven't take my English test yet because I'm hoping that they'll let a foreign nurse as long as the books and mode of instructions/teachings used in your country of learning is English. Too much to do. I'm praying that it'll be all worth it.:)

1.Apply for a CES professional report from CGFNS. Have them send the report to MI board of nursing (BON)

2. Take TOEFL. Have the code 9988 for scores to be sent to CGFNS.

3.Your BON should give your ATT and eligibility to register at pearsonvue for nclex-rn. Meaning it would be nice to contact your BON once CGFNS has sent them your CES report and TOEFL.

4. Apply at LARA. http://www.michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-72600_72603_27529_27542---,00.htm OR go to https://www.ncsbn.org/contact-bon.htm and select your state

5.Apply at pearsonvue for nclex-rn.

Try to confirm this info with your BON.

i am actually lost with the process to apply for the BON. you know, even if theres instructions that they have online, still its kind of nerve wracking to undergo all of this. im on the CES stage in CGFNS and im not sure if its IELTS or TOEFL to take for english test. ive been trying to bargain thoughts in my head whether to take the english test or not since reading on their site stating textbooks and mode of instructions is in english would justify it. thanks for the response. really appreciate it. :)

have you talked with the Filipino Nurses Association of Michigan ? Yes? No? If no, why no ?

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

nah, in your OTHER topic, I've posted a link. Inside of 'that' website, is a compendium list of many other groups and organizations that focus on Filipino-focused stuff in Michigan. The Filipino Nursing Association of Michigan is one of the groups listed there.

Are you using a PC for this research? if no, hey ! Switch to PC, as yer missing out on a lot !

do you have a PC available at home, with internet access? Yes? No ?

emma's post back at post #4 is dense with info and seems comprehensive on what _all_ to do. Do you need a flowchart or other visual aid for this ?

If you are still not sure whether you need IELTS or TOEFL after checking out the Board of Nursing web site, then simply give them a call and ask them. I'm sure they will be helpful.
