I only bought Timmies when it was roll up the rim time. I do miss honey cruellers though. Granted I think I found enough junk food anyhow since Ive gained like 20 lbs.

Lol Darnell. The snow is melting but my van is still stuck in a foot of snow thanks to the plough.

NLR - the honey crullers are their best doughnut! I'm really worried that I'm going to only crave unattainable Canadian food through my whole pregnancy <_< I also like their coconut timbits. Their hot chocolate is awesome too.

I have been in the US since April 2015. At first it seemed like no big change but as I began navigating through the process of building and buying a house, and don't even get me started on vehicle insurance after an accident, and the medical billing systems, I see stark differences to the way things are done in Canada. Oh my gosh the Americans complicate everything. It seems to me that for every one step in a process done in Canada (Manitoba), there are at least two extra steps (often more) to the process here in the US (Minnesota). Just my humble observation here. Not sure whether it's done to give lots of people employment...lol, or because the free enterprise system down here is so prone to legal liability. I see it in my job as well. I am assimilating nicely but it is taking a bit more effort than I ever thought it would.

I might be slightly jealous of your drive from Minnesota to Manitoba. I wish I lived that close to home so I could actually visit people and they could visit me!

I consider myself very lucky in that regard. I am also much closer to my immediate family members who live in Kansas and Texas. I'm the "monkey in the middle" now, so to speak.

My drive home is about 8 hours if we step on it. I'm planning on visiting next month but since my hubby can't get off work I will probably fly. I definitely don't feel like driving all that by myself. I used to drive hours and hours by myself, like from southern ontario to thunder bay, but now I can't rely on heaps of coffee

I will have to do that! After nine months of being here I am finding my "normal" again.I hadn't realized I lost it for so long, I guess chaos was normal. Culture shock is real and you don't even realize you're in it when the cultures are similar, JMHO. Nice to know I am not alone,,,great company here! :)

EXACTLY! I didn't know what was wrong with me until I looked it up. Can you imagine how tough it must be for someone from a completely different country? And they don't even speak the language well? I know I couldn't do it.

It is really hard to move to a new country. I've moved all over Ontario, and had no problem getting to know new cities and making new friends. This is a whole new ballgame. I think there's an added layer of annoyance because I find myself being unfamiliar with some simple things in public and people will assume I'm an idiot because I don't look like I'm from somewhere else.

Soo I booked a flight for Feb 23rd to visit my parents.. I got my approval notice for my advanced parole already, does anyone know how long it takes to get the card? Maybe I jumped the gun lol
