Oh yeah Swiss Chalet I know was around as I went there a few years ago. That place was always good. I even bought a package at the grocery store up there that had the Swiss Chalet seasoning you could make at home. Didn't quite turn out as good as the restaurant version though...

So many of you still live pretty close to Canada. An 18 hour drive through Wyoming and Montana keeps me pretty much in Colorado. And the cost of my daughter's flights keep me grounded too.

Does everyone live near their in-laws too?

In- laws live about 5 blocks away.

My parents live a 26 hour drive away... boo. I am going to petition them to come once I am a citizen.

I miss Cheemo perogies. I have only been able to find Mrs T's so far and I don't really like them. Plus, when I ask at the store if they have perogies, the clerk looks at me like I have a second head on my shoulders; I haven't found anyone who even knows what they are.

I'm actually living WITH my in-laws atm. My husband's grandparents (who live with his parents) are not doing so hot so this way I keep them company and have something to occupy my time while I am unable to work.

I am super grateful that I am only a 1+ hour flight from home. We may be moving to Georgia though which will definitely be an adjustment.

Thank you! Someone who understands. Not sure what Cheemo's are but as someone who grew up in a Polish household, I miss perogies like you wouldn't know. I so took for granted all the Eastern European supermarkets back home. I really just need to bite the bullet and learn how to make them myself.

The Mrs. T's Perogies are too salty for me! When my sister was visiting earlier this month we made our own.

Thank you NLR, this is what I am going to do next week while the man is at work!

Cheemo's are just the brand I used to buy in Canada. I'm not Polish but I sure do love me some perogies!

Everything is so salty here lol

I agree. My husband has noticed that things are salty now that I cook for him. I add a little salt to some things but not a lot. His friend made him a steak and it was so freaking salty I couldnt eat it. His buddy thought it was great. Sigh...

Things in the US are very salty and or very sweet they add way more seasonings to their food don't get me wrong I put spicy on everything but I enjoy cooking now because I control the salt content !!

Yes Mrs T's aren't the greatest. Luckily there's some Polish stores that sell them locally, though haven't been bothered to check them out. Even one of the Polish bars near me has them, but they' don't taste the same of course when I've had them in Poland (despite the owner and all the staff are from Poland). Not sure why they can't make them the same?

THANK YOU!!!

I tried to introduce my wife to them when I was on a visit. I didn't realize they weren't really in the US. I found the same ones as you... Definitely not the same. Was kind of bummed because I LOVE perogies... Hopefully i'll find somewhere to get some of the Cheemo ones!!

Chances are anywhere you have a heavy eastern European immigrant population you'll find perogies or people who know what they are. I wouldn't expect anywhere else to know though. We've tried Mrs T's and they're ok.
