Oh don't get me wrong, the timbits are great and the coffee is indeed better than dunkin but I like my coffee strong (really dark roasts or americano's) which Tim Horton's doesn't really cater to. I have definitely gone more often since the introduction of their dark roast though, which isn't half bad!

My hubby doesn't really get my love of Tim Horton's or really even get that restaurant concept (he boggles at an eat-in donut sandwich combination shop), but he indulges me. My most missed item is definitely the iced capp but we found some powder through Amazon that allows us to make almost the same flavour drink! So delicious!

Oh man. I don't know what I would do without bagels. The ones around here are actually better than any I've had at home (blasphemy again, I know) so there's another upside. Downside is, I have become addicted to scallion cream cheese. Not a big deal in the winter but something I'll have to restrain myself from in the coming months haha.

I am moving to Mobile, Alabama next week.

I have a few....reservations.

My husband is Chinese-American and I am Guyanese-Canadian. So not only are we an interracial couple, we are an unusual mix. My husband is worried about me liking Alabama but I am trying to reassure him that it will be okay.

I hope it will be okay. Not only are we far from any family but anything that I recognise culturally. I am excited but very very nervous. I am praying for the best though. I am looking for a new church as soon as I get there too so I am hoping that goes well.

I am excited, though...it's definitely one of those "Jesus take the wheel" moments in my life.

New discovery: American corn pops are different

I passed the test for my NJ license today!! I'm so happy. Worried about my flight to Canada on Tuesday though. International travel scares me.

4/21/2016 - Got green card! :) No immigration worries til 2018!

US corn pops suck. Ugh. I can find more varieties of salad dressing here though

Fellow Winnipegger! I am surprised you found a curling league in the states! Where I am (New England) they don't know what curling is! I know what you mean about the boredom. I'm going through the same thing. When I was bored or lonely in Winnipeg, I went for a massage at the Clarion (Blue Cross paid 80%) and I could use the mineral pool, hot tub and sauna for free (and eat all the cookies and veggies I wanted)! It was nice to relax and pamper myself on the cheap! Here... there's NO such thing. If you want a spa experience like that, you're gonna drive an hour away and pay big.

I miss my friends, I miss the nightlife, I miss my family. I miss my job. I miss knowing where everything is! I drive around here aimlessly and get lost. I've met some people here but they all seem kind of fake and already caught up in their own lives. The pay here is a lot lower than any job I've had in Canada. Even working as a waitress in Winnipeg, you get minimum wage plus tip! Here, they only get paid tips. I was a teacher, but the pay here is low, they're educated differently, and I need a state license. So... with wedding planning and the visa process... I probably won't get a job until next year unless I do something ! :-)

Yay! New England people! I'm just across the state line from you in Springfield, Ma, and originally from Saskatchewan.

One option to consider until you get your state teaching license is the charter school system. Not sure about Hartford, but they are desperate for teachers in my district, and are willing to help you get your licensure while you work.

Also, for those of us up in this corner of the country, there's an actual Tim Horton's location in New York, which I stumbled upon accidentally on a day trip. I might have cried a little when I found it. :)
