Sounds kinda like you are downing the guy for his decision, I don't agree with it, but that is no reason to throw snide remarks at him. I have seen way more deserving posts on here then this one. You seem a bit jealous of his hypothetical success, he may be a millionare or a middle class working man, you and I dont know. Either way he made a decision, right or wrong as it may be. He could have thought it would take 5 hours on hold to get an answer, as many posts here imply.

There is no jealousy. There is only duh, you gonna fall for a phishing scam?

I would never do this, but at the same time, I didn't spend more than 30 or 40 minutes contacting the NVC. You just have to be persistent and not give up easily.

I expected days worth of calling, mainly from how some people on VJ talk, but not worth spending any money on for sure.

The first day I tried, I got with someone in about 15 minutes. The next time I called, as the first day they didn't have my number, it took about 20 minutes to get ahold of someone, then they accidentally hung up on me while transferring me, another 10 minutes of redials, and I had the case number.

The people that I've seen on here say it takes days, are the same people who generally call maybe 10 times every hour maybe until they give up, versus doing redial after redial, as fast as possible to actually get a hold of someone.

Actually NVC do state that they can only give out information to the petitioner, the beneficiary or the lawyer you put on your choice of agent, if you have one. Once NVC picks up the phone, they will actually ask if they're speaking to the petitioner or the beneficiary, so the person calling on your behalf (if this is even real and not just a scam) would have to lie. Honestly, I wouldn't play around with it. US immigrations are pretty darn sensitive when it comes to misleading them and in this case it would be down right lying.

Our case was stuck at NVC for eight months, so trust me, a LOT of calls where made to NVC. You just have to call when they open first thing in the morning or late at night and then call and hang up until you get through. We waited everything from 45 minutes to less than a minute. Calling first thing when they opened always gave us the shortest waiting time.

Did you read this part where walran stated:

You an also get them to call and wait and then call you back I think when you are connected.

If the service is conferencing you into the phone call, then there really is very little or no risk of misrepresentation. In fact, the call service doesn't even need to have your immigration info to validate who is calling if they conference you in immediately.

This thread didn't really interest me at first but now it has because it has inflamed so much of the normal commentariat. People should chill out. And some people really hold some hostility for others in this forum. Seriously people, walran is just some online dude. He's not a threat to your baby or your bank account or anything else that's significant in your life. No need to be angry at him.
