Generally speaking, getting a tourist visa from the Philippines carries about the same odds as striking gold in your bathtub.
Keep in mind that the beneficiary (the tourist) MUST show extraordinarily strong ties to the Philippines. The petitioner, also must have many things secured and in place before filing, including: health insurance, at least a $10,000 bond, secure employment, tax records, verification of residence and promises to provide housing / food / health care for the beneficiary.

THE BENEFICIARY MUST HAVE THE FOLLLOWING

  • Bank account with extensive savings
  • Property owned by the individual
  • Longtime employment
  • Family ties (children / spouse)
  • Anything else of significance that would likely guarantee a return to the Philippines

Even so, still worth a try (unless you are petitioning a single person...especially a woman). Tourists visas for single Filipino woman have nearly a 100% denial rate. Don't believe the statistics published by the American Embassy in Manila (they claim 86% success rate). I call BS!!
Use the guides and internal forums on VJ to do the paperwork yourself. You don't need an attorney for a tourist visa. Depending on the situation, hiring an attorney will likely be a waste of money and resources.

tourist visa , usa visa out of the Manila NIV unit ?

or

tourist visa, PI visa on usa citizen INTO the PI ?

are you on a PC? I ask, because 2 of the 'recommended' visa services are slamming display adds all over the PI sub-forum here at VJ.

I completely agree with Greg. I have been through the process twice and of the many people I have spoke too in person at the emabassy, not one single attractive female has gotten a tourist visa. I talked to one of the emabassy guards, he laughed and said " This is like one of your speed traps in America, its just a money making operation." You can blame all those who have gone before and over stayed their tourist visa.

Anyone know of any cheap services to help fill out for tourist visa in the Philippines? I don't really want to go through all the trouble researching when lawyers there should be fairly cheap.

Just to let you know that no lawyers in the Philippines are cheap at all. Plus if this is for your fiance which they would be a single person is next to impossible in the Philippines unless you prove very strong ties back to the country like property, a very good job.

Dude, save yourself the cash, man up, and go visit her instead.

That's pretty presumptive dude. Considering it should say next to my name I filed a K1 at some point.. My wife has been living here for 3 years.

I realize the odds of getting her sister a tourist visa are low, but it's so cheap to file, so to me it is worth the risk. She is married, there is a chance it would go through. My wife wants her here when giving birth. I tell people all the time if they don't mind losing the money it doesn't hurt to file, I'm in the same situation. For a couple hundred bucks it certainly doesn't hurt to try. I just don't want to be involved in the government paperwork side and will do more on the back end which is why I'd like someone over there to help her get everything set up.

A tourist visa application is not complicated

http://manila.usembassy.gov/b1-b2.html

http://manila.usembassy.gov/niv-application.html

Form required: DS-160 https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ It is an online form requesting personal information, what do you expect an attorney to do?

And like said by others.... getting a tourist visa from the Philippines is highly unlikely, but not impossible. Who it is for is a factor as well.

There is not a petitioner with a tourist visa and there is not a beneficiary, only an applicant.

I can't believe the responses, My k1 visa is from 2012 and you all assume this is for my wife? Simple questions are best answered with simple answers, you either know a lawyer that has helped someone or you do not.

I think most folk took the same assumption that I did,

that

since your official VJ profile only has 'K-1' status on it,

we were thinking this was for a lass that you wanted to visit inside of the USA, 'cause you could not travel outside of the USA.

I challenge you - update yer official VJ profile. If'n you do it today, well, I promise to send out 2 dozen balut to any address in the CONUS that you choose.

Hey man, if you don't want people presuming, kindly update your profile. You have a floating K-1 from 2012, it's now 2016. I'd hate to think you let your wife live here 3 years without status.

Seriously!! I don't agree on this, lol.. I was able to bet a B1/B2 Visa on my first try... you just need a very strong ties in the country. These are a good profession, stable high paying job, Honesty that resonates during the interview that you are coming back and a better reason why are you visiting US. Visiting a BF is a 100% denial - sorry guys that's the way it is. The CO will ask, who will pay for the trip, and she will answer, my BF - denied. Each case is unique but having a lot of money in the bank is not a sure way to get a visa.

I am:

- single with 2 kids

- visiting my parents in the US who are LPR

- over a 100 blood relatives (my mom side of the family are there, 12 siblings with kids)

- a have a good job that pays well

- have traveled to Several Asian countries

- not so much money in my bank account

- not so much property

* and I believe I am single and attractive! hahaha

** but none of my financial docs nor employment docs was asked from me. So I believe it is matter of how rooted you are in the country and your confidence and honesty in the interview that the CO will sense. It doesn't matter that you can afford everything or someone will pay for everything, they don't care about that. What will compel you to come back is that they are looking for.

I have read a comment in B1/B2 forum- he was a former CO; it was pretty comprehensive on the basis or approval and denying a Visa.

The forms are very easy to fill-out. Using a lawyer will never guarantee you to get a visa, and why a lawyer. Travel agencies can help you but again, the visa application is very easy. Even if you use a travel agency, they will just help you fill-up forms, gather/ review docs, get your money for the services that mostly you did and take you at the embassy sidewalk (they cannot enter the embassy with you). They have no influence on the approval nor can guarantee it.

Let your fiancee do it and that will boost her familiarity with the process and self confidence that she need badly during the interview. Good luck. :)

No one is saying it's not possible, it's just very very hard to get. Just like you said you have to have some VERY STRONG TIES back to to country before they will even think about approving the visa.
