Super excited to finally be sending our application off tomorrow. I was hoping to do it today but its MLK's birthday so nothing is open :( Fingers and toes crossed we soar through this process!! Has anyone gone to the interview with their foreign fiance? We were thinking of that but its such an expense especially since we are planning a wedding. Eeeeekkk!

I sent mine today via FedEx because USPS is closed for MLK. I spent a couple extra bucks on it but hey a day saved is a day earned, plus I was pretty anxious to send it on it's way lol.

I'm planning to go with my fiancée to the interview more so for moral support, plus it does look good I've heard when she presents my U.S. passport so they know I'm physically there waiting :)

yeah its late in the day now plus thought you had to have a different address for express etc and we put the regular address for the letters of intent rather than expressed address.

Regarding attendance at the visa interview: It depends on the policy of the interviewing embassy/consulate, some allow it, some require it, some don't allow it. Check with them.

I was in the area, around the corner "enjoying" an expensive Starbucks, while my then-fiancee and her son, had their visa interview at the US consulate in Guangzhou. The consulate does not allow the USC to be in attendance at the interview. Read my review for details.

If you can go, certainly go. If you can't be in attendance, at least you are providing important moral support for your future partner at a very important time in your relationship.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

My fiancé is from Peru. Her interview date is Feb. 18th. The embassy does not allow the US citizen inside during the interview (I guess that is the policy). From what I've read on the US embassy website in Peru, the interviews can last anywhere from 3-5 minutes. I wanted to attend the interview, just in case they had specific questions, demonstrate that we can communicate in our common language Spanish and to support my fiancé. We are anxious, but feel prepared that we have everything covered!

K-1 Visa has been APPROVED!!!!

My fiancé had her interview at the embassy in Lima, Peru yesterday. After a few questions (and a couple of trick questions), everything was

in order and her visa would be delivered via DHL in a couple weeks! YES!!!

So now it is time to make travel arrangements..... :dancing:
