Hello,

I received a social security number three years ago when I worked at a summer camp in the US. This was so I could work and be paid.

I have recently applied for and been approved a K1 visa, and intend to move over to the States in April. I was wondering if my old social security number is my forever social security number and if it will still be valid for me to use when I move over.

I still have the paperwork I recieved when I first got my social security number in 2013.

Thanks for the help!

Yep, the number is the same.

It probably says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" on it, right? If you come on a K-1 your EAD Card or Greencard are that, I believe.

What I did was I got my name changed on my SS-Card after I got married (I came on a K-1) because the updated Card (it still says "valid for work only with DHS authorization" because I am only just in the Adjustment process) can (in Massachusetts) be used as a document (proof of signature) when going through the driver's licence process.

I did it right after we got married so was still within the 90 days of my I-94 (arrival record) that I had to bring as part of the ducuments with my passport to prove that I entered legally.
