Please confirm that I-551 stamp is good for a year even if green card not yet received

My wife entered the country on an immigrant visa 3 weeks ago, and has the I-551 endorsement dated two years from her date of entry. Soon she will need to return to Ukraine for a few months, most likely before she has received her green card in the mail (since it will be before the 60 day waiting period that USCIS asks for). Everything I've read says that her visa and endorsement function as temporary green cards and remain valid for a year (or maybe two) regardless of whether or not she has the physical green card in her possession, so I shouldn't expect any problem in her readmission to the US this summer.

Nonetheless, better safe than sorry. So I appeal to the collective wisdom of VJ to confirm or refute this. Can I in fact relax when my wife leaves the US in three weeks, confident that she can return in the summer without difficulty?

Thanks muchly!

hi

yes you can, but if it says 2 years than it is an error by the officer, the stamp is valid for 1 year, until she receives the GC in the mail, then it is no longer valid

it serves as a temporary proof that she is a LPR, until she gets the physical GC

She'll be fine.

Endorsed I-551 is good for 1 year. The conditional LPR card will be good for 2 years from the date of her initial US entry.

You can actually read the visa where it says once endorsed serves as a temporary I-551 valid for 1 year.
