Hello!

My medical examination is tomorrow and I just wanted to get others opinions about whether or not this will be okay (especially anyone with the same experience):

For the questionnaire, I have ticked 'yes' to the question regarding causing deliberate injury to myself. This is because I have scars from an old and isolated incident of self harm which I never even mentioned to a doctor. Secondly, I answered 'yes' to taking medications. So, to back the questionnaire I have a letter from my GP which says the following:

[NAME] is a registered patient at this practice. She has had mild anxiety issues in the past and has been successfully treated with Citalopram which she takes daily. She is not suicidal and presents no risk to herself or others'.

It doesn't explicitly mention the self harm incident as like I said it's not even in my record so I just wanted to get others opinions on whether this will cover it enough for them not to want more? Even though it was minor and just once I just didn't want to tick 'no' because they are likely to see...

Thank you in advance for any response! :)

Other self-harm people I have know in this UK forum have been ok with similar reports from their GP. If there is any further information Knightsbridge should want, they will write the information for your doctor to respond. As soon as your doctor provides the info, they send your report on to the embassy.

I agree, other posters have been in your position with GP's letter and have been fine

Answer questions truthfully, you're good

Thanks for your replies.

She didn't seem concerned by it, but she said for the embassy's sake they need more detailed info because I take Citalopram (an antidepressant) the letter asks for:

Diagnosis

Investigations - if any

Treatment

Duration of treatment and illness

Any prior or subsequent mental health issues

Any incidents of self harm, harm to others or suicidal attempts

Prognosis and your opinion of current mental state

She said it's just a standard template...

But here's where I'm worried. In regards to the self harm she asked me questions like 'did you go to your GP after?' 'Did you need hospitalisation or stitches?' I said no to both (which is true)

But when I think it all over I think my GP asked me once 'have you ever self harmed' and I said yes.. But it was never made an issue.

Should I be worried that they might think I deliberately misrepresented myself by saying 'no' when in fact my GP may have a note of it.... Or am I overthinking?

You are overthinking :)

Get the letter/report from your GP and send it to Knightsbridge, all will be ok :)

Everything crossed for a smooth and stress free journey

You have moved into classic overthink/panic mode!

Get the letter you are fine

Please remember a gazillion people have gone through this process with no problems
