Can my USC spouse move "our" goods to US before I get my visa?

We were talking about this last night. At the moment it's looking pretty uncertain whether my passport/visa will be back in hand by the time we have our movers scheduled for at the end of the month. I mean, it might be, but it might not.

So we are faced with a question of whether we want to store our goods in Canada until I have that squared away, which is very costly, and we have to decide ahead of time.

My husband said, well, it's "our" stuff, so why shouldn't he be able to bring it all as a USC returning to the US? then if I have to wait for a short (or long) period of time to cross until my passport makes its way back to me, i can do that staying with friends/family or even a hotel, with a couple of suitcases, and we can cross our fingers that it doesn't take too much longer, but meanwhile we aren't paying $1000 a week for storage.

I've searched, but could not find a good answer for this, so any info is welcome

Nope, not a problem. I moved my husband's stuff on a trip a month before he came. I packed as much as I could in luggage/trunks, and we cleaned up his apartment, moved furniture to his parent's and brother's home, and he stayed with them for one month. When he came he still had two big pieces of luggage, but his other belongings were here.

As an aside though, $1000/week for storage? I packed my stuff in a Ubox storage is $159/month and they can move it too

Well, the 30-day quote was for $4000.

We're using Atlas movers, not a budget option for sure, but they're doing all the packing and everything, because I'm just too old for that stuff any more. Moved waaaay too many times.

$4000 a month?? Where at and how much stuff do you own? You can rent a month to month apartment for far cheaper than that.

I paid $120 a month and I had a 2 bedroom house worth of stuff.

If your spouse is living in Canada with you he can take the stuff over before you.

If not he is not allowed to take your things, as they are not supposed to cross before you. As you could be refused a visa.

Some ppl get lucky, and are not caught taking some things for their other half. If caught they could be forced to turn around or abandon their things.

So really it depends if your husband lives in Canada with you atm?

(I looked at the quote more closely and the bulk of that $4K is actually cartage to and from their warehouse to our place, rather than the actual storage charge...so we are going to try to finesse that in another way. It's a relief to have noticed, actually!!)

My spouse is indeed living in Canada with me he will be a returning non-resident or whatever it is, since at the time he came up here and got his permanent residence etc. we intended to stay here permanently.

I'll be hanging tight here until the visa comes through, but things will be somewhat less complicated if he can travel before the goods and start that paper on them.

Perfect then he just shows up with the stuff and says he's moving back to the US. He shouldn't have any problem.
