Hi everyone,

My fiance and I have started our I-129a petition (will hopefully be sending it out next week) and even though I do not need the I-134a forms yet, I am trying to be prepared for the worst.

I am a graduate student in a full-time program that receives a stipend paid by the university and I am not allowed to take outside employment. With my stipend I make about $1,000 less than what is required for the affidavit of support and so I plan to use my father as a cosponsor.

A couple of questions:

1) I take out school loans to compensate for my living expenses and am now wondering if the USCIS will see my loans (which I have used in part to help pay for travel to see my fiance, fix my car, and other non-related school things) as a red flag. This may seem like a silly questions since I take out the loans and I will have to pay them back eventually so it is not their business what I use the money for, however, I do not want them to delay our K-1 visa because of seeing large deposits of money entering my account since these loans are not reportable in my income. Should I report my school loans? If I used my school loans are reportable income I would possibly be above the poverty level needed but school loans aren't exactly taxable income. Anyone have any experience with this?

2) My cosponsor makes well above the needed income level but he is not the best with money and I am afraid this might reflect on his bank statements. I do not need my cosponsor's assistance in any other way than showing he makes well above the needed income level to compensate for my own because my fiance has saved enough money to help cover his living expenses in states until we can marry and file for an AOS and he can get approval for work. So even though my cosponsor's tax returns will check out should I be worried about his bank statements?

Sorry this post is so long but I want to provide you with as much detail as I can for my situation!

Just to be nit-picky for a moment> not sure where you are getting the 'a' from on the end of the form names. It is the I-129F and I-134(no letter on this one).

In London, you will only need an affidavit from one person, so if using a co-sponsor, all you need is their form and proof of income. Bank statements are not a requirement, and debt is not taken into account at all.

Haha oops! I got it confused with the G-325a which I filled out earlier this evening. I have spent way too much time looking this stuff up tonight and I believe I have fried my brain a bit. Thank you for the response and I am glad to know that bank statements are not needed! :)
