based on my case.. in my birth certificate..my middle name is incorrect but it was corrected before i graduate college. since birth cert is already corrected...theres a notation where..when and from/to below your original birth cert. error is still there but the notation below the birth cert. makes the error correct.. thats what it is...

i got married..of course all the docs transfer to married name like passport..govt i.d etc...

during my interview, i never thought consul asked me a cenomar and nbi using my uncorrected name (my maiden name with uncorrected middle name). as expected, i have nothing to show coz i dont have those docs. they just instruct me what to do and where to send. i did that on the same day of my interview. everything went well after that and they process my visa immediately after i sent it back what they need.

tips: if your name is corrected, i advice u get those docs and bring those on the interview date to avoid delay..

*cenomar with uncorrected name

*cenomar with corrected name

*cenomar with married name

*nbi with uncorrected name

*nbi with corrected name

*nbi with married name

cenomar is not listed on what to bring on your interview list but they will going to ask that during the interview. American consul are nice but filipino consul have lot of question and thoroughly check your docs 1 by 1 during your pre-interview. so be prepared than sorry later..

Can you please explain what this cenomar is? We have a couple different wedding certificates, one from the nso and we have a proof of non marriage we got before we got married.

You will need a current CENOMAR/CEMAR (issued when married) from PSA (NSO old name) for the interview at the embassy.

And for the NBI it will need to be for TRAVEL ABROAD/IMMIGRANT VISA (green in color) with an AKA for all names used. The NBI will need to have maiden and married name listed.

Ok one is a certificate of no marriage and the other is the certificate of marriage? We need both?

No. You request a CENOMAR at PSA, THEN , if married the form issued is the CEMAR (Certificate of Marriage). The request is always for a CENOMAR... don't stress on this... (welcome to the Philippines... )

https://psa.gov.ph/civilregistration/requesting-civil-registry-document

Not to be confused with a Marriage certificate.

I believe we gave them a proof of no marriage with the I130 petition. I believe it is now expired as it is over 6 months old. I really do not understand why they would ask for proof of no marriage from a married couple.

We do not have a recent copy and our interview is this week so we do not have time. I hope this doesn't delay things for us.

Yeah Hank, this stuff has me stressed to no end. I really hate this kind of confusing bureaucracy., What good is a list of requirements if there are things they require that are not on the list? And the I864 form wording is very confusing in some areas. This form could easily be fixed. In some cases in order to get the correct answer you cannot answer as asked.

I guess we will see what happens with this cenomar thing..

Confusing is the most polite word to use.

Same thing happened to my wife at her interview and she got a 221g which delayed getting her visa by about a week. Not a big deal in our case though. The PSA has a 'special' office to deal with USEM issues and it cost less than P500 to get the required doc from them sent to the USEM.

Basically what Hank said is true. You request a CENOMAR but you get / they send a CEMAR since you're already married. Try explaining that to an asawa 12000 miles away from the action who had never heard of the CEMAR document during his journey, haha.

Anyway if you can have this in hand at your interview your approval will not be delayed. If you don't have it, expect a 221g.

Good luck.

As I stated earlier, you request a CENOMAR (one form covers all) from PSA (whether you are married or not), PSA upon reviewing your records will (in your case) issue a CEMAR. Embassy will always state they want a CENOMAR knowing that if you are married they will receive a CEMAR.

The form is fine, and it gets the job done. Don't think on this, just follow the process.

this means that certificate of no marriage.. thought u are already married they are still going to ask that. if u dont have that and since interview is limited thats fine. they will give u an advice tho what to do next. during my time.. they ask cenomar from us..if you want to get that cenomar on the same day..u can go to NSO office main in quezon city. they will release it on the same day. just tell them its urgent and needed for interview. they will try to refuse but u need to insist. they will give that to u anyway. lol

or if your want..u can resched your interview and get that nso first to avoid delay. its your choice anyway. but for CR1 visa or spousal visa.. they will going to ask that.. base to our experienced and base to what i observed that day..
