"Nice" to see that I'm not the only one worried about having children here in the US. Every time I think about it I'm seriously considering just going back to Sweden :P Still haven't really figured out a good solution so I will follow this thread for ideas Thank you for starting it!

My husband and I too. :D I told my husband that if we ever decide to have kids, we're moving back to Scandinavia. I mean 12 months paid maternity leave, three months paid paternity leave, free health care, free daycare, free school, free college, free dental uptil 18 then highly reduced dental rates, five to six weeks paid vacation, paid sick days.... With that option, we'd be crazy to have kids in the US, although I hear both IKEA and H&M are trying to incorporate some of those Swedish family values and support here in America too. 💕

It is hard to beat Europe when it comes to benefits. Uncle Sam is all about work work work. https://skift.com/2016/01/18/no-vacation-nation-41-of-americans-didnt-take-a-day-off-in-2015/ I've been complaining about my 3 weeks paid time off but looks like I should be grateful.

Hopefully that's available in the future, but I imagine it'll still be better than what the US will have.
