you both should know everything a regular married couple would know. Birthdays, family members names, how did you meet, where you went on vacation together, how many rooms in your house, who sleeps on which side of the bed, when do you eat together, who works where, who sleeps on which side of the bed, who gets up first in the morning. When was the last time you had dinner together, what kinds of things do you do together.

If they do not believe you or see any red flags they will put you in separate rooms and ask very awkward questions about your sexual relations, and what color underwear is your wife wearing today, etc etc.

For the basic interview they tend to go over all the information on the I485 including all the yes/no questions, so it is a good idea to review your copy of that form. For my wife's interview, we showed them all our joint financial information as well as pictures and insurance information. The overall interview for us lasted 10-15 minutes, and I could see my wife relax after the first minute. I would also review the USCIS reviews for Seattle for more details about that local office. Lastly, don't be discouraged if you don't receive a decision immediately at the interview. It seems to be a 50/50 shot that they will let you know at the end of the interview which was the case for us. We received the actual notice via text two days later.

Good Luck!

Well thanks a lot and it varies a lot as you said even timing of interview and type of questions as I read in some experiences. So what is the worst case scenario that could happen and what to do ? Just for my knowledge, thanks again

The worst case scenario is what is referred to as a Stokes interview. If USCIS thinks the marriage is not real, they may choose to separate the two of you and ask questions to compare answers and determine if the marriage is real. We did not face this type of interview, so I cannot give you much insight, but if you search VJ for Stokes, I am sure you will find some that have been through this experience. Hopefully you will not be subject to one of these, but it doesn't hurt to make sure you are knowledgeable about each other's families, the wedding experience, as well as your relationship history.

Good Luck!

Thanks very much. I hope ours turn out to be smooth. I am wondering who should answer the interview questions, me or my wife (the sponsor) ? Also We will bring with us all documents that we submitted when we sent the package like birth and marriage certificate, bona fide documents..etc and all must be ORIGINAL..right ? Also which is better to answer the IO's questions thoroughly or give them short answers without details unless they wanna know more ?

Thanks and looking forward to hearing from you.

Generally they will ask you the questions since you are the applicant, but in our experience it became more relaxed and we both answered. The IO will make it clear who they are asking, so follow their lead, for us. When the IO went through the 485, the questions were directed at my wife. A few times I needed to clarify the question, but overall these questions were directed to my wife. We brought our entire AOS package as well as the I129 from my wife's K1. We also brought our wedding album, updated tax returns, updated bank statements, and any other supporting documents we thought necessary. Our IO took the updated financial information and went through the wedding album as we recounted our special day. All of the information we brought were originals, or certified copies, but I am not sure that is required, we had kept complete files of each stage, so it was fairly easy to simply bring it along.

Good Luck!

Thank you all for help and info provided. I received a mail notice today that our interview will be at 10:10 AM. I only wonder how long the interview will last in average! If we have work that day afternoon, do you think we would be able to make it after the interview or it's tough ?

My wife had a stoke interview (I think it's because of our nationality, which is outside the norm). She was questioned first, then they asked me (as others have said, comparing our answers). After that, we were interviewed together asking about the evidence and who were in the pictures.

It's their job to scrutinize fraud marriages, so if you know each other very the questions shouldn't be a problem. The interview for us lasted about 30 or so minutes and it was in the morning. I believe my wife was approved that evening via an email. I wouldn't stress to much about it if your relationship is legit.
