My fiancé was previously denied for a tourist visa, last summer. They just said that he was not eligible, and I believe it was because he didn't have strong enough ties to his home country (no job). I was told before that this would have no bearing on his eligibility for a K-1; have you all found that to be correct? Also, I acted as the sponsor for that visa attempt, and of course I now have to indicate that on the I-134 I'll be sending for the K-1. This won't be a problem, will it?

I guess in the waiting period, my mind is churning up every conceivable worst case scenario. The silence is deafening.

Tourist visas don't require a sponsor or an affidavit of support. You would not list anything about that on the I-134 that you submit with the K1.

Thank you...the advice I had when he applied for a tourist visa was that he needed an affidavit of support as a way to prove that his expenses in the US would be paid for. (This was before I discovered the goldmine that is VJ.) So I don't need to list the previous I-134 that I filled out (apparently unnecessarily) on the current I-134? I guess I technically never acted as his sponsor anyway, since he was denied and I never had to pay for his expenses.

Yep, no need to list it.

The K1 is for immigration (though technically a non-immigrant visa), so the denial of the tourist visa will have no effect, as long as he didn't lie on anything in the tourist visa app.
