What exactly is a final divorce decree or certificate? Is the original petition for divorce stamped by the court and filed? If not, how can I get this? Is it easy? Thank you.

No, it is the document - sometimes called a Decree Absolute - that signifies the legal end or dissolution of the marriage. Proof of the filed petition would only show that you were going through the divorce process, not that it is completed. This can at times - for UK citizens, for example - be a deceptively unimpressive piece of paper with a purple stamp on it that might say "decree absolute" in teeeeny script at the bottom of the page, as well as in the text of the letter.

In most states/counties you can get copies of divorce decrees from the clerk of the court in the county you were divorced in. I had to get copies from a state that I do not live in any longer and they had a website that gave me all the info I needed and I just mailed them the request with the fee and they sent the copies in the mail to me.

For safe measures, make sure you get it stamped by the county court. Ours was a little red stamp with a signature and date on it. There have been RFE's issued on this, we got one : P!

Depending on where you reside or got divorced. Different countries, states in US might have different forms etc.

In california it is that 'pink form' (forgot that form # FLxxx ). It would say there Judement and what type of Judgement (Marriage Dissolution etc )

You can get it from Court clerk's office - anyone can get it on your behalf. Once you get it, make sure to ask the clerk to ceritify it. Also make sure to get any attached addendums/stipulations to your judgement (that pink form) - sometimes judge signs at the end on those attachments - so that whole thing would be your judgement.
