Hi guys,

Finally my wife (F2A) is about to do her first entrance in US with the visa printed on her passport.

I was wondering what she needs to bring with her other than the passport (of course :) ) and the envelope she got at the interview.

Is there something else? (for instance I was thinking about a printed copy that confirms the payment for the issue of the GC but I do not think that is necessary).

I completely forgot my experience and then I would really appreciate if you can shed a light on this matter.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi guys, I have been recently told that sometimes requesting the SSN at the POE is better than asking for it at the office.

However, I also heard different opinions about that (asking at the POE and then waiting for the SSN may be a longer process).

Opinions/suggestions about this?

Thanks a lot in advance!

eh, instead,

show up at ssa office 2 to 3 weeks after POE event,

ask for SAVE db lookup on visa name and A#. If the clerk can find it, then apply. if cannot find, come back next week.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Hi Darnell, thanks for your answer.

What do you exactly mean by "ask for SAVE db"?

Are you suggesting to apply for SSN at POE or not?

Thanks a lot in advance for your clarification.

No, don't apply at POE. Do it at ssa office a couple of weeks after she arrives.

I didn't have the xray done so I don't know about that. They never asked me for it and I wasn't questioned to why I didn't had I done either so.... Hopefully someone else can answer that one!

In your visa application form, there is a column where they ask "Do you require SSN". You must have said Yes. Then they will send you the SSN to your address automatically after he/she arrives in USA. If you said NO in the form, then you can go to SSN office close by and apply in person.
